Unprofessional, hurtful, rude and condescending...just a few words to describe my boss

When I first started my job, we had a great boss. She was nice and fair and she listened to her employees. Then, she got pregnant and quit. After 4 months of managing ourselves, the corporate office finally found someone to manage our store. Why it took months to do this, is beyond me. So, after months of having no figure of authority we were all relieved that someone would be coming in and taking control. If we had known then, that they were sending the dumbest monkey at the zoo to manage us, I'm sure most of us would have quit then. However, we had heard nothing but good things about this guy.

In a small way, I feel sorry for him because he entered a store that was crumbling. There were people doing drugs, breaking rules, having attitude problems and people just generally bending the rules and taking matters into their own hands. So, when he came in, he had a lot to deal with, but their were better ways to deal with it than how he did it.

I guess everyone at the corporate office had given him a list of the 'troublemakers', because from his first day, it seemed like he had a definite 'hit list'. He went around and told everyone to avoid certain people. From there, he began spreading rumors and lies about everyone behind their backs. Whenever we had to ask for a day off, he would ask us why and if we said it was personal, he wouldnt give it to us.

The first week he was there, when we needed him to manage us, he opted to clean. He had no interest in learning anything about how to run the cash registers, help anyone else with their jobs or even any one's names. It was horrible.

So, after a few weeks, he finally migrated his way to the customer service side of things and we became familiar with his people skills, which were, if I am honest, non existent. To clients that have been coming to us for 10 years or more, he was rude. To new clients he was condescending.

Meanwhile, he was still being mean to his employees. He is a bully. On more than one occasion he got in one guys face for being "f***ed up" even though he wasn't. When one girl fell and broke her knee, he told her we didnt need her if she was just going to sit down and work (mind you, that is all he does everyday.) so he told her to stay home. When he sees anyone sitting, he yells. He writes people up daily for the most rediculous things. i.e. not turning water off, if there is anything left on your station, if you don't clock in or out. Those things, are not so severe to be written up. A simple warning would do, but no, he writes us up.

NOw, he has been on the job for 2 months and we are worse than before. He is verbally abusive to everyone. He gossips about everyone and then he is suprised when we all find out. We are all friends and we look out for each other, if he would have taken a minute to get to know us before he started being mean, then he would know that.
