Here's my resignation letter about my bad bosses

Thought I'd share the text of my letter - everyone feel free to use any part of it when you are ready to quit! I sent my letter to every executive up my ladder, right up to the CEO. "Based upon the recent history of negative changes imposed by <> with the appointment of Tom and his choice for Cheryl as his protégé, I feel I must close the book on nearly 25 enjoyable years of dedication to <> in several different capacities - as an employee, as a customer, and as a resident product expert. I will not continue to compromise my own integrity and work ethics, as has been required thus far under Tom and Cheryl’s direction, nor can I continue to subject myself to work for an organization which has allowed them to mismanage so many talented people at <> . Companies downsize and companies respect their employees – but <> has chosen to make these two business practices mutually exclusive, which is truly a pity.I feel very strongly that both Tom’s and Cheryl’s management style, as I have observed, will continue to stress and alienate even more <> employees than it already has. Perhaps that is the company’s plan to economize their well-publicized downsizing needs, but I cannot further jeopardize my health by staying longer to experience the outcome of such a plan. I view Tom and Cheryl’s style as having created a hostile work environment that adversely affects all the <> employees. In my opinion, Tom and Cheryl are unethical, manipulative and self-serving. I have found them on many occasions to be insensitive, insulting, disrespectful and discounting to their co-workers. They practice insidious character assassination which makes them appear to be threatened by other intelligent and talented colleagues. They often “reinvent the wheel” so that they can take credit and even win awards for work established earlier by others. They do not acknowledge or support other's creative contributions. They lack concern about providing quality service to both internal and external customers. I believe that their negative work traits have seriously fractured all of our teams and have led to so many honest, hard-working employees feeling the need to quit. Each employee has left, and will undoubtedly continue to leave, in order to maintain their own work integrity and preserve their own stellar levels of care and service to their customers. <> has introduced attrition warfare to its employees, and I feel certain that this strategy will cause more profitable customers to leave <> to find better service with the competition.I will sincerely miss my team; they have worked so hard to become some of <> ’s finest customer service reps. I am so proud of them! With our improved hiring practices and training programs, they became a dynamic team which earned the trust and respect of all our sales reps and customers. I provided only the foundation, and I was rewarded with a beautiful home at <> , built by my team who diligently work together as a cohesive unit to support the team’s goals and motivate each other to provide the very best service.I am also deeply saddened to leave my fellow Team Leaders. My experience as part of this management group has been rich and rewarding; we worked together under supportive direction for many years with unflinching loyalty to the company’s goals. We provided <> with stong reliable leadership that instilled confidence in our staff and in our customers.Thank you for allowing me to express my feelings; this letter should serve your purposes for an exit interview. I wish everyone at <> the best of luck in these uncertain times."

Interestingly long resignation letter, but lacking in any real details, and too full of blah blah - it'll go straight in the round file. There's nothing specific for higher management to research to see if it's true! A more detailed explaination of why you're leaving after 25 years would've been better (i.e., providing clear dates, projects, and other facts that can be confirmed by those that remain, such as how T&C "reinvented the wheel" in order to steal awards away from co-workers, etc). |
