    Mean Girls

Ok so I work for mean girls, and that is not the staff but the owners of a bar,one of the owners is fantastic. They are family and three very headstrong ladies. Well two are never around and when they come around it is like we are dogs with our tails between our legs. They nit pick everything, send us home like children to "teach us a lesson" if they don't like what we do, and put us on blast in front of others when we do something wrong. Not to mention they let us know how hard it is to find jobs in the economy now to make us feel like this is as good as it gets. My problem is I have been there about 7 months and worked so hard I love it there, if manager needs me I drop everything, trained a number of girls and always make sure everyone is happy in their environment, I don't steal, I treat the place with respect and follow the rules. I feel disrespected and sad lately, and not as chipper when they are around, and they have made me cry which stinks. So should I suck it up and take it or start looking for a another job?? In the meantime if I do need to look how can I bite my tongue so I do not leave on a bad note and bitter....SO CONFUSING Thanks for any advice

Reply: Can you speak tactfully to the one nice boss and get her to communicate the problem to her mean sisters? What about the rest of your coworkers, are they willing to speak with you on this matter to the nice boss ? The two witches are a clear example of how many people have absolutely no idea how to BE a boss. They attempt to control by fear and intimidation because of lack of REAL management skills. I'd look for another job if I was you. Start immediately because, as you say, you might not keep biting your tongue. It's terrible when a great job winds up with a nasty problem but aren't there plenty of bar jobs around, really? Don't let the witches psyche you down and out. Good employees are needed everywhere in the food and beverage business. Don't take the witches personally. Such evil ones will always be the meanest to the most competent of employees. If you want to stay at this job, are you really willing to turn off reacting personally to their idiocy? Because that's what it will take to survive there. The only co-workers I've seen who can survive with jerk bosses are the ones who can punch their timecards in and out and not invest themselves in the job (other than for a paycheck.) I'm not like that myself but I've worked with many who seemingly can do it.

Reply: Look for another job and state better propects when you leave your present job, getting stressed is just not worth it.
