    nonprofit world bosses

My boss runs a nonprofit that helps people in trouble, yet he lies and manipulates to keep control. He is very good at his facade and it's difficult for someone who has not experienced his rude and threatening behavior to believe it. I have worked there for 10 years. I was injured at work and he has told the insurance company that I was not severely injured so they won't pay for a scan the doctor has ordered. I have been advised to talk to a lawyer. I am a single parent and need the job. Will bringing a lawyer in to press for the insurance company to pay for the scan get me fired?

I am being treated like I don't matter. I can't talk to my boss about it anymore because when I try, he closes the door and says things to me like I am mentally and emotionally distraught and he is "worried" about me and I need to "get over it". I am not behaving in any such way and I'm managing to do an enormous amount of work but he is piling the work on me. Behind close doors he is kind of vicious in what he says and then he opens the door and acts like a nice guy. It's creepy. How can someone who professes to be so compassionate behave this way? I'm starting to think he's mentally ill...narcissistic or something. Any advice for me?

Reply: How can an insurance company deny the doctors request based on what a boss saids. I mean is he a Medical Doctor? Is he qualified? If so did he give you a complete examiniation. I guess I don't really understand. I mean I know insurance companies deny where every they can, but it usually comes from the internal insurance MD/Nurse. Is your boss trying to get out of paying workers compinsation? As for getting fired in my opionion they would touch you while a lawsuit is pending. It just complicates the case more. You should really consult a lawyer to weigh those option. Your main concern is to get the proper medical attention to heal. Your personal mobility is a life time and your job is not.
