    King of bad bosses

I'm Pooh Bear's co-worker. Let me share my stories on our "beloved leader":

    1. Has asked Pooh Bear if I was going through menopause and if I had a boyfriend, if I went out on dates, what's wrong with me because I'm going to the doctor. Very intrusive.

    2. Was surprised when we told him that an occasional "please" and "thank you" is appreciated by staff. He said he's not used to using those words, although I do get an insincere & half-hearted "thanks" when I say good night at the end of the day.

3.He took great offense several years ago when we told him that we did not want to be in the office when a board member with diagnosed TB was going to take a Trans-Pacific flight to come to the office and later go to an American doctor to see if he truly had TB. He angrily said that if we didn't want to be in the office when the board member came in, we could go home. No regard for our health and well-being.

    5. Scratches his private parts all the time in front of us female employees (lewd & lascivious conduct)

    6. Makes slurping/chomping/chewing noises while he eats -- sounds like feeding time at zoo. No class.

    7. Doesn't wash his hands after using bathroom. Was observed on 2 different occasions by Pooh Bear's son and boyfriend who were in bathroom at same time. Pig!!

    8. Makes moans/groans/sighs while sitting in his office -- makes us wonder if he's watching porn on Internet!

    9. Has yelled so loudly at Pooh Bear on several occasions that people in office next door have overheard and have even come over to make sure all is well.

    10. We suspect dementia or Alzheimer's because his communication skills & comprehension levels have really deteriorated, yet he denied that anything is wrong when we asked him about his impatience, anger, bad memory, many errors.

We have even asked if his wife if there are any medical problems that we should be aware about because of his change in character, etc. -- she said all is well. She's in denial. Any suggestions on how we can find out if something is wrong?

Reply: I've read poohbear's posts, and I've read yours, and unfortunately, there are A LOT of bosses out there who are exactly like yours. (For instance my friend once worked for a guy who, during a face-to-face conversation in her office, got up and PEED INTO HER EMPTY COFFEE CUP!!! His excuse was that he really really had to go, and didn't have time to go to the mens' room. My friend had many many other stories to tell about this guy; you can probably imagine what THEY sounded like.) And most, if not all, of these jerks are not mentally or physically ill, they're just idiots. I don't believe you and poohbear can do anything about this jerk's behaviour - except maybe try to take it with some humour (looked at one way, some of the things you've said your boss did are actually kind of funny) and maybe think about using his behaviour as material for a book or TV screenplay. (Your story would make The Office look like Sesame Street!!!) And please do be careful in future - inquiring into your boss' health, to him or worse, to his wife, could have gotten you both fired. And it would have been a legal termination (sad but true).
