boss gave my trainee my job!

I'm 60 and told my boss recently that I would probably (not definitely) retire around 2011 (yes, I know huge mistake). I have been training someone at another facility to do the same job I've been doing at my facility for 15 years. Then it was learned that office will close and everyone will be transferred here. My job is a duplicate of hers (except she's new and I've been at it for 15 yrs). My boss first put in a plan to promote me over her (he informed me). That plan was shot down by his boss but my boss didn't tell me that. The woman came to our facility for training and he told her the new plan which was that she would take over my job and I would be delegated things that he didn't have time for (system change requests and misc data analysis which is about 1/4 of a job). So she would take over 2 systems that I was administrating, had built networks in the company to support (the systems and processes) and took great pride and satisfaction in. He told her this without telling me! After she left is when I found out. Now I went back and told him that it wasn't workable and I'd come up with a phase in/phase out plan (which I didn't want to do under the circumstances) He replied ..sure but I can't guarantee anything (many jobs are up in the air..including his). I'm still talking to this woman and can tell she's still under the impression that he's promised her my job! He's not communicative about this. What should I do now?

Reply: The US. I believe now he has seen this as an error but it won't be resolved I feel until she gets here. He needs to make this clear to her...don't know when that will happen.
