Regarding yet another example of bullying and mobbing, see link below:

I finished reading this article and then watched a National Geographic special on primates beating up and killing one of their own. Amazing similarity. The human bullies in this article were no more contrite than were the bullying chimps depicted in the documentary. The target of a bully or mob is someone's beloved child/sibling/parent but the bully(s) overlook this reality. It just goes to show that violence is born of ignorance and is simply a primitive, fanatical bid for power over another living being. Bad wins over good when bullies run the show, always. Yet our school systems and our work environments, while wringing their hands over these kinds of incidents, very often fail to curb such destructive, demeaning behavior

Reply: One poster said that bullying behavior can be blamed on bad parenting. Unfortunately bullying has always been with us, from the schoolyard bully on up to the genocidists and has existed throughout human history. I doubt the true root of bullying/mobbing can be blamed on the beleagured modern-day parent, who is putting in 60 hours a work week and probably struggling with his own bully in the office. No, bullying is a societal and biological evil; and flourishes wherever there is a managerial vaccum or lack of a 'reward' system for conscientious and just behavior. It festers within the most primal part of us and erupts when there are no policies and laws - and brave, sensible individuals enforcing them - to keep it in check.
