Crazy boss who can't separate his personal life from his business

I have been working with my boss for the pass 4 years and I love what I'm doing but since we moved to the new building. Where my boss live in the same building that we work in, he had his ex-wife moved in things haven't been the same since. 1) She would go through our employee files 2) accused him of having an affair with me 3)makes comments about my children 4) she does not work but sits around and my boss gives her a paycheck for doing nothing.

It's becoming a hostile working environment. I have giving him notice of separation twice and he promises to take care of the situations but it hasn't been done so yesterday, Monday I e-mailed him with a separation notice that 12/5/08 will be my last day, we had a meeting this morning which he had ask me why I'm leaving and all I told him was that I got a new job which it's not true. I don't know what else to do other then lie to him???

I have been doing a lot of thinking and can't come up with anything good.. because each time I would tell him how I feel he would come up with solutions but never fulfill them. So I give up trying ?? I could really use some advise on this??

    Somebody please help??

Reply: You've told him several times what the problem is or not? (Ex wife) He's offered solutions but never followed through? He has no intention of following through. Clearly his ex wife has more importance or value than you for whatever reason and you will be strung along and abused for as long as you show you are willing to be bullsh*tted and take it. He should never tolerate her interference with his business for the sake of the business AND professionalism but looks like that won't be happening. If you're interested in MAYBE getting a good reference, it's a waste to remind him his ex wife is the problem and he has no balls to do anything about it. Lying isn't good but when the truth gets you nowhere......oh well ! Your leaving is message enough...

Reply: Thanks for the advise. I guess I have done more then my share and have tried all sources so I guess leaving is the best way out. His Ex-wife will probably drive his business down the whole soon or later. He had asked me to work until 12/26 I thought that with the Holidays I didn't want to stress him out and besides we've got a lot of over sea visitors so I'm trying to put a happy face or good host until my last day with them. I've got a another job with his competitor in town but not sure if I should tell him at all or not?? Anyway thanks for help!
