    Do I have any recourse

I work for a small cell phone company, I was hired back the 2nd time due to me leaving due to a vehicle accident. I went back part-time although I have been working over 40 plus hours a week, I really wanted to be manager of the store, note, I was the only employee, managment knew this, and told me I would have to go full-time in order to be CONSIDERED< and have to PROVE myself, well to my dismay on Friday, they introduce me to what i thought was my co-worker, well then managment held a meeting and introduced him as my new manager, I cried uncontrollable, I felt very slighted, since I came in sick, and worked all day 10 hours without breaks, lunches, and even purchase my own supplies, since no one was around to do it. To make matters worse, the Policy manual states they must post the job internally for 5 days, before seeking outside work. This new person has no experience what so ever, although he was a manager, in a factory. So I explained to him I was in retail my whole life, and I managed several big box, retailors, my questions is do I have any recourse, they have broke my self-confidence, my self-esteem, and on Saturday I was so shock up I decided to leave I feel I was over-looked even though my experience definately out ways his. Can anything be done, I have already contacted my lawyer, wrote to the fair labor board, and I do believe for some reason i was discriminated against. Please help, because right now I am very much in a state of depression over this.

Reply: I don't know what your legal recourse is, that your lawyer will have to help you with, but I do know that even though it's unfair and rotten you can't make anybody promote you. Were you promised the manager job? I'm sorry to hear your problem, let us know more details and how it goes. If you have all this experience, why not take it to another cel phone store but apply for management right away? Don't get depressed, most people and most workplaces aren't worth the waste of your emotional energy.
