Technically , this is not a good idea to get a union rep involved if you really want to stay in that job. However, if you have already decided to quit , you can do that. The HR will not help you as they always back their managers.
I have been through all these process involving HR, unions , courts etc. The result is simply zero.
Few people have suffered like myself from the similar situation as you have described. |

At times, it's best to simply use this time to locate a different opportunity. What I've learned from working for Family Owned/Involved establishments is that when your work becomes so impressive that it makes the son/family member feel insecure, then he will go running to his daddy like he did when he wore shitty diapers asking him to get rid of you. If they don't have anything on you to fire you for now, they will find or create something. When my previous employer tried to get me to take a hint and leave, they went as far as to claim that a computer was stolen, called the police and filed a report. This was done so that they could say, "While she was employed with us a computer came up stolen." The larger question would be, why would someone working on 6 figure deals need to steal a computer. Especially, when I was required to use my personal computer in the office. Ultimately, I left and the lazy son was granted all of my hard earned accounts. These types will get what they deserve ultimately in life. Don't waste energy or your reputation on these scenarios. |

We really should understand that HR is there to identify the disgruntled/offended/assaulted employee, determine whether their offense will evolve into a lawsuit, and diffuse of cover it up prior to the owners being affected. Until the EEOC can mandate that HR's work as independent contractors of an organization, there will never be justice from them. Not as long as they are on the payroll. |

"Until the EEOC can mandate that HR's work as independent contractors of an organization..." lamarrm, this is never gonna happen. Most of the industralized nations of the world are 'way 'way ahead of the US in employee-friendly laws and policies, and none of those nations have enacted anything like what you'd like the EEOC to do. It's very unlikely that the highly business-friendly US is suddenly gonna be a leader in this area. Regarding the idea that there are no HR people out there who will help out employees, well that's simply not true. I am a Director of HR for a large organization and my boss (the CEO) says to me practically every day that my job is to be the conscience of the company and that he pays me specifically to seize every opportunity I see to help and defend his employees from any crazy business ideas he comes up with. In other words, if I don't help and defend his employees, I will be fired. And it's just not possible that I am the only HR person working in this type of situation. |
