I thought I worked at a fairly nice place but lately its been hell. Myself and some of my coworkers occasionally get in our boss' eyesight and that is when we get slammed. She is up for review of her contract and until next thursday we are all in her view. The nice boss we had in the beginning ( 3 yrs ago )has turned into a bitch. I recieved an email from her that she said my work ( she says I didn't do a ton of things, liar. ) is incompetent ( the actual word was not used, but you can tell that is what she is saying ). I work hard, I give a full days work for a days pay, but I cannot control what people do in the area I work at once I am done. I make sure my areas are neat and tidy when I leave them, so any mess was left after I was done. I am pushed hard to complete all my tasks assigned to me in a day, but I don't dare complain as she takes it you need more work if you do. She is emailing coworkers asking if they see work being done or is someone slacking and if so what are they doing, not doing. I am like do your damn job and leave everyone alone. It is rediculous that she is playing this game with us all. It is creating a bad work environment to where you can't say anything to anyone without wondering if someone sees' you asking a work question if someone will try and win favor with our insane boss. I feel as if im back in first grade. I choose to go to work with a positive attitude and do not take having a bad day out on people. She has a very bad attitude and looks for people to pick on lately because she is in a extremely bad mood over her job. I understand she is nervous of her job, but that gives her no right to go off on us all in the process. Right now the way she is acting, I do hope they do not renew her contract. It would be karma.

Oh and by the way someone asked some questions on who would know this or that from a coworker, she emailed them and sent me a CC and said ask this lady she knows where everything is at and can pretty much do anything...too damn funny. I so wanted to hit reply and say helllllllllooo remember me? I am the incompetent one. I am quietly looking for another job. With this economy I don't know if that is possible as I live in a rural area.

Reply: Have you tried sitting down and having a heart to heart chat, after work maybe, with this formerly nice boss about the old days when things were fine at work, and asking how or why things may have changed? Hear things out from her point of view, let her do some venting, don't take any of it personally. Stand your ground firmly about the good job you do, cite examples of it, and tell her you're doing the very best you can but the stressful work environment isn't helping and what could be done to improve things so they're better for everybody, including her ?

Reply: Actually yes I have. We had a long talk about a month ago and she said she appreciates the hard work and you know I am up for review and I hope I get it. She has just turned into Jekyll and Hyde, and Hyde is winning. The bad thing is she is a very likable person, is funny, has a sense of humor and was normally a down to earth person. That person is not here now, just the boss when I see her I want to turn around and walk FAST the other way. You don't hear a positive comment, it is all negative. With all the stuff she has said I did or did not do if I can trust her. Trust is important with a worker and a boss. I have bad days but I DO NOT bring my bad attitude to work. I am in the middle of a very nasty divorce, custody issues, etc and believe me there are days I could just rip people in half but I choose not to be that way. I have 42 workdays left under her until summer break ( my calendar is at home with big red X's on it at the end of the day). I am already applying for jobs, putting my available date as the end of May. I won't leave them short staffed as that is not professional and will give them three to four weeks notice during the summer break to find a replacement.

Reply: Not much you can do when someone goes permanantly wacko. Or would she ever get back to normal if she gets a good review? Well, don't forget to piss in her coffee at least once before you leave, ya know, so she has something to REALLY be uptight and bitter about, LOL. Just kidding. Not really.
