Working for TWO pregnant bosses = miserable

    Unbelievable.

My pregnant boss just started working from home and starts her mat leave in a few weeks. She has been incredibly tough to work for during the past several months. More demanding. More anal, micro-managing, etc. She's always been kinda of bitchy, but you get used to it.

So a female colleague (of equal rank to me) was named the temporary boss last week. This week, she announced that SHE's pregnant (and I can just start to see the bulge). I think she's an even bigger bitch, but she was never my boss. So now the hell I went through with #1 for the past 7 months is going to repeat itself all over.

The way the timing works, #1 comes back right when #2 goes away...in about 5 months (yes, she gets 4 months leave). That is the lovely plan. Worse yet, #2 somehow gets to do my annual evaluation even though she's only temporarily the boss. As you can probably guess, I am a guy and feel like she may definitely screw me over on that. In addition to probably being even more bitchy for the next 5 months.

I can't exactly quit. The money is decent and there aren't exactly a ton of finance jobs out there right now. Any advice?

Reply: You need to think about what this really means. If the girl you thought was your equal is the temporary boss, she is clearly viewed as more senior/qualified than you. They easily could have had someone else temporarily manage both of you. And it's not a good sign that one doesn't leave until the other comes back from maternity leave...suggests to me they think you need to have a boss present at all times. So if you were hoping to have your boss's job some day, I think you need to realize it's probably not going to happen. The other girl has the inside track now.
