I'm a DJ and have been working at a place for years. My boss said if I DJ elsewhere during week I'm fired. Is this legal at all? There's more too.

Are they allowed to fire me if I work another job during the week. I need to work and I need money. It's not like I'm working for them on these days. It's at a different club. This also involved him yelling and swearing at me in front of other employees. This isn't the only issue I have, but the most recent. Please help.

Reply: Unfortunately for you, it's perectly legal for employers to dictate what kinds of second jobs their employees have, and even whether they have second jobs at all. As well, yelling and swearing at employees in front of others is also perfectly legal. I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm just stating facts. Unless you have some good solid evidence that your boss is behaving this way directly because of things like your race, gender, disability, age, and/or religion, then your boss hasn't crossed any legal boundaries. Again unfortunately, simply being a jerk is not illegal.
