My boss is getting a habit to watch porn movie at work

Hi Goodboss, Yes, is the same boss. I did visited a department that I can complain about my boss doing something like that, the agent explained to me that I have to notify my boss that I know he was watching porn movie, if he does it again, then I can complaint, otherwise, they will not take the case. My question is, if I go tell my boss I know he was watching the porn movie, probably he will find the way to fire me the next day. One time, I asked the receptionist from the next store to come over to pretend asking me question, when he stand by our office door, he could hear the noise from my boss laptop that you see how loud he plays with the movie! In fact, he is watching now, I am ready to go outside for a break instead of listening.

I'm assuming the department you went to was HR. Go back to HR and tell them you're afraid of getting fired if you tell your boss you're aware that he's watching porn. In fact, write a memo about this, and include dates and times that you know for sure he's been watching porn. Sign the memo, make a copy, and give the original to HR when you're explaining things to them. Tell HR you've kept a copy of the memo. Report back when you've done all this. Please note I can't come here except mainly on weekends, so be patient when waiting for my response. Good luck. |

After thinking this over, I have a question: was this "agent" person someone outside your company? If it's someone outside, who is this person?
Do you have an HR department in your company? If so, that's where you should go. If you don't have an HR department, maybe you should take your issues and documentation to the most senior management-level woman in your company. |

Hi Goodboss,
Thank you for the advise. Actually I went to DFEH-Dept. of Fair employment & Housing. They take care sexual-harrasement and unfair employment case, they told me that I have to notify the person who doing something like that, if the person ignore it, and do the same thing again, then I can make the complaint. Last week, my employer watched the porn movie again and turned up very loud, I intercom him and asked him he is ok, because I can hear the heavy breathing noise, he was stupid enough to answer me, " oh, I am just watching.....ah...no....i am ok", then i said" I heard some heavy breathing noise, i thought you are sick". He didn't reply me then he turned the volume down right away. He is actually a small shareholder, other members are in oversea, that's why he can do whatever he wants in the office. |

OK, you have a choice - either go back to DFEH and tell them you cannot tell this person to stop the porn stuff because he's your boss, or find a senior woman-manager at your firm to help you.
Let me know what you do, and what happens. |

Hi Goodboss,
Since we have a small office,we dont have human resouce dept. His partners all live in overseas. But someday they will hear from me. Are you ready for the new update? On last Thursday, he(it) watched the movie again for few mins. I walked in to his office quietly, I was in the middle of his office, repeat, I was in the middle of his office, 7 feet away from his monitor, he was not even realized I was there, he was too concentrated watching the movie, then I made some noise in purpose, his reaction was " Oh......" then switched the screen right away, I stayed in his office for about 3 mins. when I walked out, he was pretended looking at the company file on the screen. After I went back to my desk, few mins. later, he came out asked me some questions with very nice voice tone, his face was red. I am just wonder this kind of animal will feel quilty? I am waiting for the economy get better than I will leave this place, before then, I will file the complain at DFEH. |

At this point, ater all you've suffered, you should file. And if the agent says again that you need to tell your boss yadda yadda, tell that agent you'll be fired if you do.
Remember, you are the strong one here, you have the law on your side. And again, while you're waiting to use the law against your boss, try to keep seeing the humour in all this. And laugh!!! |
