    How do I say "no"?

How do I tell my boss that I don’t want to take notes for him during every single meeting he holds? He sometimes pulls me into meetings specifically for the purpose, and I feel it’s insulting. I am not his assistant and I am certainly not an admin assistant.

What makes everything all the more confusing is that he is actually a consultant and not an employee of the company (by his own admission).

So, he is here on an interim basis, and his position and scope of authority has not been clearly established. I call him my boss in practice but in theory the relationship is not that clearly defined.

It's not my intent to be arrogant, but I feel I need to draw a line somehow.

    Thanks,

    V.

Reply: yeah, need to nip that kind of thing in the bud! say sorry, you are busy (preferably with something HIS boss wants doing) and say you think its more appropriate that a secretary or admin take notes.

Reply: That is a tough call. Just say "no" period.
