Been Bullied at work through Discrimination

I come under the D.D.Act, but I have worked in Office work for the last 22 years since I left college. I have got Epilepsy, a medical condition (no different to someone with Diabetes)and totally able to do the job I do as good as anyone else, if not better (all be that bit said by me). I have got loads of Computer qualifications up to IT Diploma Level 2 & European Computer Driving Licence Excel Level 3.

I went through a 4½ month grievance last year – that was HELL!!!!! Never again! I ended up having 5 meetings with this Operations Director, because he would NOT increase my hours from 25 to 35 each week – due to giving me another job higher up the ladder (that used to be done by a previous colleague who did it FULL-TIME).

I had to fight tooth and nail, go and see Company Doctors, etc. Ended up taking the matter to the Managing Director & won my case, to have my hours increased to 30 hours EACH WEEK! Well done, you might say to me. BUT this Operations Director has been making my life HELL ever since and running me into the ground with the pressure he has been putting on me ever since then – a form of revenge on his part for me winning my case!

I get upset easily, as I can be very vulnerable to what people can say, and he has got me in tears on several occasions – lowering my dignity in front of other people, and I have been getting stressed out about it!!!!! I have now been seeking help through A.C.A.S. who have been a great help, and ended up handing my notice in last week. The M.D. came down to see me, to try to stop me leaving because I am good at my job, and find out what the problems were. So I told him, and saw the Operations Director yesterday to tell him exactly what he has been doing to me, and that I’m not going to take anymore. I had a Union Representative with me.

Hopefully he will have learnt a lesson and back off Bullying and Harassing me in my job now! But only time will tell. This is the first job in 22 years of working that I have experience such hell as this – discriminating against my weakness to gain power and control over me! I won’t say the word I would like to call him, but I’m sure you know the word I mean - You B……….d!

Reply: hello, i have a similiar problem with my manager at work,,, and i also work in a union,, my boss uses his employees, point blank ,, he makes deals with them to ro a certain production level to get paid time off ,,, throw away write ups ,,, etc... and if you don't kiss his ass he doesn't like you i never have kissed huis ass,, he knows i'm good as anyone at my job and when he expects me to kis his ass to get what i want ,, he can't understand why i won't,, most of the things i want should have came to me by way of senority,, like vacation dates,, working int the department of my choice ,, and the hours that i like to work,,, the manager never gives me what i ask for and won't ,, until i consistently kiss his ass,, which will make him happy ,, but i will have given for something i should already have without asking for it,, anyways,, my advice is whatever you do never show weakness,, never shed a tear,, never show that they are affecting you that much,,, just try to be happy till either you find something new,, or he realizes he cannot affect you,, mentally or other wise ,, quitting is not the answer you just become another victim,,, soooner or later you will come to equal ground don't give up don't give in,, show them you are there to stay ,, and instead of kissing their ass,, they will be kissing your ass later on...
