    Bonuses

I had a Boss, who called me to his office and fed me a song and dance about how no one in the company was receiving bonuses. Next thing I hear is more than one person is receiving them. I go to HR and ask how they could justify the action seeing that no on has received an evaluation or any justificationfor anything in the past eight years. The HR lady, tells me that she can't believe that no one hasn't receive any type of eval. I tell her no, not one. The next thing, she tells me is that HR stands behind management. Just another example of the man keeping the working man down.....what's new

Reply: just an idea of my boss, this email came in recently about bonuses. notice the twisted logic. "We are now in the home stretch of 2006. Soon it will be time to evaluate the year. Everyone knows that deciding on things like bonuses etc is somewhat subjective, but I think its fair to make sure everyone knows the criteria we look for. Obviously the value brought to the company in terms of talent is important, but that’s what salary is for. Bonuses are for something extra. What constitutes extra? Come in at 7 30 in the morning and you will see a few people who are already in and are hard at work. If you are not doing anything extra DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING EXTRA AT THE END OF THE YEAR… I feel no desire to pay bonuses to those who are not killing themselves. No one who is working 7 hour days will get anything at the end of the year let me be clear on that point. So let me know if I am missing something!"
