I joined the company about 1 year ago. have more then 30 years of experience in my field and was put incharge of a few dozen people in an area I am very comfortable with. When I was interviewed, I thought everyone was great, especially my new boss. She was very nice and soft spoken and seemed concerned about whatever I was interested in. When I started working I had numerous people coming to me asking when I was going to leave. After 3 weeks I received a card from my employees asking me not to leave because they don't want the pain of reprting directly to my boss again. Since then, I have been micro manged at every point. I am not allowed to make a single decision without first asking permission. When my boss took a vacation day and I was asked by her boss to do something immediately, I did. The day after when my boss returned to work I was given a 2 hour "ass chewing" regarding my performance and doing things without consulting her. Even though what I did worked perfectly. I am not the only one that has this problem with her. She has fired scores of people inthe past 5 years and cause as many to leave. There have been some very good people who have been demoralized by her, and have sought other jobs within the company. Since this is well known within the company and management ignores the situation, it seems futile to work there anymore. It's shame too. It's a good company and others seem to have pretty good bosses. Whenever we are asked who we work for we get a comment like "How do you stand it" or "I'm so sorry for you". So, what do we do?
