My boss resently fired his wife now they are getting a divorce.Problem is I am getting stuck in the middle he is pushing all her work (office manager) on me without pay I might add. Pluse being his consuler it was bad before but now I am about to snap. I wish I could quit by dependent on my check like everyone else. Its not like there are alot of jobs out there anyway I live in a small community and would have to drive 30 min one way to find a job that pays what I make. Sorry got off track I like my job just not who I do it for and I dont need to here about his personal problems, how do I tell him I dont want to know about them without lossing my job. There is a person that would love to step into it if I quit or got fired.

Reply: I think you have a few choices: a) wait it out-since he's in the middle of divorce he is surely complaining about her more now than he will in the future (once the dust settles) or b) try to find a way to politely bring it up-and I'm not sure you can right now. You could try to steer the conversation back to work and absolutely refuse to meet outside of the office with him on all accounts! As far as the extra work without extra pay. I would ask him when he plans to hire for the office manager position. Tell him you have a friend interested in the job (surely you can think of someone). This will give him the hint. Good luck!
