    invasion of privacy?

I was off sick for a couple of days and found on my return that my boss had asked the maintenance dept to open my locker in order to retrieve something that I had placed inside for safe keeping for a member of staff. Is this an invasion of my rights to privacy at work as I also had personal documents in there and I'm furious!

Reply: i don't know about legally but your boss should've called you to ask you for it first. that is just common courtesy.

Reply: I agree that it would have been courteous of your boss to call you first, however, it's possible he/she didn't want to disturb you while you were ill. No laws were broken here - the locker is your company's property and your company is therefore legally entitled to enter it at any time. With this in mind, employees should be careful about what they store in their company's property.
