If you work a (supposed) full-time job, in a "Technical Trade",i.e, Sprinklerfitter, for a service company as their Sprinkler Technician, and you show up for work in the morning, but you are told they have nothing for you to do,are you entitled to a couple of hours (or whatever) of pay?

I have worked with my company for 3years and 11 months. Last year I applied maternity leave and parental leave start on May 1st, and I came back to work on March 1, 2005. After one and half month, my boss told me my job will be end at end of April. They said 3 weeks working notice is according to Employment Standard. However, some other people told me they are supposed to give me 4 weeks notice. Who is correct? thanks

I have worked for the same employer for the last 2 years. In Sept 2005 I had to take 2 days off due to illness and when I recieved my pay, 2 days of employment was deducted as well as 2day car allowance. I am salary and commision plus car allowance. Can they deduct those amounts off my pay.

Our company has just hired a new payroll clerk, and in order to make things easier for her she has changed the way we handle stat holidays, in the past we would be paid our reg 80 hr pay period and given an extra day off with pay, now our pay office has stopped giving the extra day off with pay and is just paying 72 hrs reg and then showing 8 hours stat but at straight time, how should this situation be handled? Also I have been given the title of Asst. retail sales manager how ever I do not take part in the hiring or firing of employees, because I do not am I technically still a manager?

Our members have had a rough time working for a company leasing land from us - our members who are employed by this comapany feel they are not receiving adequate and equal wages and job positions ie, joe blow comes off the street and gets a higher income for the same work that some mebers have worked for many years. Because it is reserve land - it is being said that nothing can be done about this and that it is in the discretion of the employer. Is it labor code ,labor relations,or some other canadian organisation or government that can deal with these unfair and pedicured work ethnics that can be approached as a whole or as an individual or as a First Nation.Does this need to go to court and if so what kind of court small claims, supreme?
