Found nothing here on the boss who is running private side businesses and shopping all day on the internet for everything from concert tickets to cameras during company time and not taking care of the group. For example, no staff meetings in over four years.

I have so worked for the BOSS FROM HELL!! She was so caught up in her own world that nothing or no one else mattered. She never wanted to listen to anyone else or consider any ones ideas or opinions. She was always right and we were to worship her and her word. I would never recommend working for this psycho. I gave her a 6 week notice and she cussed me out. My notice was because I was moving to another state, not because I was unhappy. It does not matter why you leave her office, you will always be considered the worse person in the world. She has issues...and needs help. She is so the WORSE BOSS FROM HELL!!

She was hired a month ago as a secretary and has since then made herself indepensable in every way to the boses above her. She is always "right" and shoves her way into other peoples business making herself even more involved. I could tell the dispise she had for me, being a young attractive woman in the same line of work. It was one of the boses birthdays in a week and she had baked a cake and muffins, another staff mentioned it was my birthday the next day. She stared at me blankly and then purred "I HATE BAKING" then walked out. I noticed a young woman come in for an interview with her, and then an hour later another. I asked the woman what she was comming in to be interviewed for.. and it was MY job! No notice, no mention of any problems, and no change of the magistrate I was hired under. I confronted her and she blankly said it was for my job, and it was an overall issue. WORST BOSS FROM HELL

I worked for a boss who was nice when I first met her, but then slowly started showing her true nature. She was a total witch. The last straw came when I was sick with pneumonia. She took me off the schedule and then had the nerve to ask me if I still wanted to work for her. I told her no

my ex boss didnt do windows (programs) and depised the fact that I suggested I train her in excel and outlook. 2 years later she blindsides me with a 6 page document of disgust and disdain for me. Fortunately I saved every email I sent her and she sent me. HR made her throw the document out. This saved my job for six months but corporate gave me a severance package if I didnt sue. I have heard, as I predicted, she has launched into her next guy victim as of yesterday.

I got a friend who was then promoted as a supervisor and of course became my boss. Back then i had heard several bad comments about her and eventhough I advise her with some things, she just won't listen and just don't care what people will say. I became her shock absorber, assistant, adviser, problem solver rolled into one. It came to a point that everybody hates her and I stayed on her side. I pitied her with what's going on but she's not treating our friendship of what should be healthy. I applied for a higher position and had verbally informed by other department that I got the position.. and I've waited. But then I found out that when they informed my supervisor about me getting the position, she intentionally did not tell me. I learned about it when a friend approached me and asked why I did not accept it... it's too late to appeal. She don't want me to transfer to a different department as what she jokingly say. It was a double pain as she was a friend and a boss to me. She should be happy with my promotion. Right now, I am still working with her and looking for a job before I file my resignation not only at work but as a friend as well.

My boss regularly schedules full day meetings for Saturdays and sometimes Sundays as well (for her staff - she does not attend most of these). She does not offer time in lieu. After working 10 weekends out of 14, I asked for two hours out of a two-day weekend meeting to give a talk which I had been booked to give for months before the meeting was scheduled. She was furious. So I asked her, calmly and professionally, if we could sit down and discuss a work schedule which would allow me some time for personal commitments which were important to me, stressing that I was happy to be on call whenever needed, but would like to know what time I could carve out for myself. She told me (also calmly, though she was angry) that I needed to understand that personal interests were incompatible with the job and there was no time when I should not be on call. And that in future I was not to be out of the office for more than 45 mnutes at a time. I am a senior executive with 20 years experience and this is insane.

oh yeah, I so know what you all are talking about. It seems like i am a magnet for bad bosses. i am in business almost 20 years now, and had 2 bosses who really understood what's it all about - the people. Different strokes for different folks...

I have been working for over 30 years and since moving to the state we live in now that will remain nameless and working for the same university and 2 different bosses from hell I am ready to scream.
On our campus, jobs are more political than anywhere else I've worked including private industry. You don't get a job based on experience, you get it based on who you know and how you play the campus game.
My current supervisor got her job because she married a powerful man on campus. Up until 6 years ago, she was working low to mid level clerical. Now she is my supervisor. It is a nightmare. Micro managing, dumping work that she doesn't want to do. She is psycho so goes from no supervision to being in my face every minute saying it is "her shop", well not exactly, it is the Dean's "shop".
I'm looking hard right now. May leave this campus even though I enjoy working with students. This crap is nuts!

I have an intimidating boss who loves to push our team around. He has two of my colleagues do his work for him while he sits in his cubicle watching the golf channel and surfing eBay for Nike golf apparel. He’s obsessed with golf. In times of server crashes he runs around the office blaming everyone for not caring instead of coordinating our efforts and leading the way. Then he expects us to fix the problem overnight without compensation while he leaves work at 4PM. He heard the term “Self Managed Teams” and said perfect and advised us to become one just like that. Yet if I come 5 min late in the morning he lectures me on being punctual just before he leaves for half an hour to get breakfast, on top of his 1 hour lunch break where he goes home to watch OC and a half an hour afternoon coffee break. He refers to himself as an Engineer but really he’s a college technician. He truly believes he can be the Vice President of Information Technology of a $65 Billion company yet when I suggest implementing an IEEE standard for our team he responds by asking “what’s that?” He’s all talk but no action. He figures by driving a Porch, playing golf, drinking coffee from Starbucks while checking his email on his Blackberry, and wearing a suit to work, he can be perceived as a successful executive.

It's doesn't surprise me that most of the bosses from hell are women. I am a woman who has had her share of bad bosses. One man who was fired and the rest women. From ones that can't communicate expectations to others that try to keep me down. I have an inexperienced psycho now for a boss presently. She has an extremely distorted view of life. Only child brought up by a single mother that won't cut the apron strings. Argues with her mother all the time. Takes her hatred for her mother out on other women. She actually went to HR demanding that her mother be added to her health plan as her spouse. She has never been married. No one will have her.

I've had my share of experiences with a bad boss and take note...HE's A MAN!!!!. He acts like a little b*tch and he would always blame his subordinates whenever the Service Level Fails. He never shows ownership and accountability, instead takes his subordinate's ideas and makes it his own. He's also a womanizer from hell and will hump anything that moves. I don't know why our HR never gives him a memo for that.

I am having a real issue with my boss. She is a doctor who I worked with in the hospital and thought she was nice at first but then I got her other side. There was a high turn over rate, many bad moods and lashing out at employees, complaining that an employee used the bathroom too much, deducting pay if a cellphone went off. I feel like I am in high school. The offering very non constructive reviews and criticizing me for using a day off to have dentist and annual appointment. Also she adds other duties outside my job description like training the medical assistant since the last one couldn't tolerate the doctor anymore. Then she wants me to do payroll and order supplies and wanting me to come in saturday when I am salaried. She also has me work overtime uncompensated and a few times I have not even had lunch.

My boss has got to be right up there as well. He suffers from Napolean Bonapart Syndrome (he's short, pudgym bald, unattractive, nad has a superiority complex), and he makes every one's life hell. He seems to have this radar that he turns on and with it, proceeds to belittle people either by e-mail, verbally, or both. I have gotten hit several times, and now I just read what he says and then just delete his e-mail. If any mistakes occur, why it must be in development (where I am the director), engineering, or both. It is never his production department. Once, when I pointed out it was his fault (as clear as you can possibly hope of getting), he replies back to me, "Looks like WE made a mistake." (I bit my tongue hard as I wanted to say, "Who's this 'we,' white-man?!?!") One guy I work with is so stressed out about being fired, he has lost a lot of hair, has taken up smoking, and is just a mess. But this will be fun very soon as he has enough dirt on our boss-from-"heck" that he and his lawyer will really drain the company's bank account after the lawsuit is settled. Why does our company hold on to this loser (especially consdiering he has a problem with keeping his pants on around the single women)? He is close friends with the owner and #2 man of the company. Does any one know any recruiters that I can get in contact with?

You would thing that the U.S. Department of Labor, which tells private sector employers how to act, would be the model employer. Wrong. The Mine Safety agency has a high-level boss who just came back after being sent away for 5 years because she screams at her employees for anything and everything, and doesn't know how to let her people do their work. So she has to stay until midnight getting things done, then she screams some more because she did stuff wrong and it was the employees fault. Nobody in the office -- except one girl who she goes back with a long way -- is allowed to have any self-respect because this insecure little woman gets it off by belittling people. Then she cries the blues because the front office doesn't like her style.

I've been working for this large company for 8 months now. I thought the boss was cool until February of this year she start showing her true colors. One day I decide to take off since it's my dentist's appointment she got mad saying we have tons of stuff to be done. When I came to office on Wednesday I was busy but by thursday it's back nothing to do. She doesn't trust me and likes me. She is work territorial.

I have the ultimate boss from hell. He is a "yes man" which is just what our company was looking for. He is unethical, lies to the ISO and FDA inspectors, and kisses up to the CFO and CEO. He also has a Napolean complex, and is an immigrant from Honduras. He cannot communicate at ALL with any of us and we are losing people right and left due to his uncanny ability to continually change his mind! You know how it is, you just about finish the project and the timeline/subject/idea has changed, so start over........ go back to your old country man! We do NOT need you here.

My boss has the maturity level of a 5 year old. When some exciting personal event occurs she will flap her arms around the office singing on top of her lungs. When she's pissed, she'll swear and loudly complain and degrade people behind their backs. She gives vague instructions and when I approach her to ask questions she'll make me feel incompetent and stupid. If I make a small mistake she also makes me feel incompetent and stupid. I dread Monday mornings and I love weekends. When weekend comes however I dread the thought of going back to work on Monday. I have 3 more months on my contract and I want to enjoy my workplace. I wish she'd be made redundant or something.

hubby works for a vampire lawyer- sleeps all day and works all night. I am sure she was fired from high profile law firm. Now, she and another vampire hour atty have formed their own office. She has her kid doing the computer and phones- they are always down- can you say "cannot complain its the bosses kid?" Then the clerk is her babysitter so she gets pref treatment- can you say "nepatism?" then she promised to train but now says no way and has stiffed my hubby on his increase and he is driving a lot of miles a day round trip for this crap. The last straw was him and the other sucker that works there first thing in the morning and finding her matress and blankie by the door. Natch they did not move it- she is a grown up. Who, by the way lives five minutes from office who could have gone home to sleep. When the other atty came in he chastised them for not putting HER mattress away. Freaking give me a break what a PRIMA DONA this nutcase is and who is this arsewipe who sticks up for her. What kinda marriage does she have she is never home and she has other kids too who by the way have no curfew or bedtime. I think they all need to get some therapy!

I have a boss from hell. She DO NOT know the position, but she will tell you how she do not like the way you work. She works only two and a half days a week and get paid for a whole week. She work less than the company president, and her boss. She holds meeting everyweek to ball us out. And never say what a good job we done. We are short staff and has to work three positions, while she sat in the ack with her twelve inch heels and six inch nail reading her e-mails. She say she is a big girl and she don;t have to answer to NO ONE.

I'm currently under this boss from hell who's living in the past..every situation she encounters, she connects with her previous employer..i mean, she's been working with the current company now for 16 yrs and yet she's totally hung up on her previous work..why did she resign in the first place?
She makes a big deal out of super simple things, things that we can work out, she meddles into. As if we're first graders who aren't smart enough to make decisions.. She has always something bad to say about a situation or a person.. Simple requests from our department is a big deal for her.. She ignores others requests or just complains..
She is so rude.. everytime I or my colleague is on the phone, she calls our name loudly and tries catching our attention to say something which doesn't make sense.. If someone from the other department comes over to talk to us, her radar becomes wild, and she snoops around.. Worse, she interferes while that person and I are talking..
She complains about every single thing.. About her maid, her siblings, the company, her officemates, her colleague, our VP, her manager, evrything!!

My boss constantly reminds me that she's the boss & can fire me. If you say anything your insubordinate. She's constantly grabbing her breasts saying how large they are & she needs a reduction, but yet wears tight little tops that they flop out of. She touches hugs and kisses any man she can. Sleeps around on her husband. Cheats on our GSA Contract. Got caught and still cheats. She has no boundaries. She says I'm not on her level. She's a socialite. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP. I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE.

if that my job?? I have a spiteful evil woman for a supervisor, a boss who could careless and people who are so desperate to cling to their jobs who just go with the flow. I am so ready to tell them I quit. I don't know what to do... I am at my last straw, I am sick of being emailed by my supervor telling me I am incompetent, immature and too fat. 1: my weight is not her concern, I am losing weight. 2: she complains that because I talk about my wedding at work from time to time. (my best friend works in the building I do, it's kinda hard for it not to come up) 3: she evesdrops on my private conversations in the break room on my person cell phone durring my schedule break time. 4: She steals food out of the refrigerator. 5: She makes fun of me to other coworkers, who I might add have come tell me she told them that I have diseases. (that I am dirty, that I smell bad... and more not polite to post) 6: She creates cliques at work and turns people against each other.
I mean how do you deal with a evil person, who just does not like you at all. I mean, even before I mentioned about inviting co-workers to my wedding she writes me a letter that she would rather die than be at my wedding.. (Jee aint she friendly) It was not like I was even going to invite her, but still.. how rude is that?
