    Bullying And Harassment

"When people mention bullying, many automatically think of bullying in school - yet bullying is responsible for 30-50 per cent of all stress-related illness in the workplace. This, says the Health & Safety Executive, costs employers 80 million working days and up to £2 billion in lost revenue every year. It also results in poor morale and productivity and higher staff turnover."

Bullying and harassment is not always about sex or race or age. A boss or coworker that belittles you on a daily basis, questioning everything you do, never accepting your responses as valid, is guilty of plain ol' personal harassment. The thing to remember is that bullies do not like who you are based on what they don't like in themselves. They will fault find your personality, the way you talk, the way you smile, etc. Anytime you express your individuality, your creativity, your unique-ness, they reject it. This is why being bullied becomes so draining after a time. Humans are gregarious, seeking company in their own kind or at least have to live as though they do, so to be picked on because one is 'unacceptable' in some way is very demeaning. The enlightening thing to keep in mind is that it is NOT about you at all. A bully is the biggest hypocrite there is. If he dislikes his own need for attention, he will project that trait onto you, see it in you, misinterpret your own way of getting attention and dislike you for it. It is all about the bully no matter how he tries to focus on you and you only.

The director of the place I was working before my current job happened to be living in my same neighborhood. Apparently she was expecting me to hide from her or something, and she started passing by my street, and in one occasion tried to cause a scene at a cafe in our area. St work she tried to come up with "I saw you here, I saw you there", so I went to the police and filed a restraining order against her. Turns out that she was already known by the cops for harassment and stalking people. I was not the first who did that. Once I quit and she approached me, I put her in her place. After that I haven't seen the b. She now knows not to mess with me.
