I have been at my current job for 2 years, but have been working in the same field for 7 years..... Over the past year my boss has gotten worse and worse when it comes to reacting/OVER reacting in front of customers.... For example one of my co-workers called her down to authorize a cheque (Cashier) and to get a loan from the cash office to cover the amount of the cheque (because it was first customer of the day) when the supervisor came down she said "What is your problem ? are you so stupid that you can't realize you don't have the money for this first thing in the morning? Now you are going to make me waste my time to go up to the office to get this money and then come all the way back down here??? Are you really this STUPID??" she said this to the cashier right in front of a customer and DIDN'T care at all what anyone thought!! She has done this to me several times in the last 2 years, and I have had MANY customers say things like "I don't know how you can work here" and "If I were you I would QUIT right here" and " Better you than me" I have been wanting to quit because all this has caused me to go on stress leave twice already and I don't know how much more I can take before I blow up and say something terrible back to her!! Does anyone have advice on how to deal with this???? I have spoken to the manager and that was NO help, I am thinking about calling head office but I am not sure what to do... any ideas would be appreciated! THanks

Reply: You need to keep a log of the conversation - just stop for a sec and jot notes, dates, times down and take into mgr. Sounds like the big dog doesn't want to look at reality - probaly easier just to keep that gal then train someone for the position. I guess, too, that the next time she berated me in front of customers, I'd say something like: "why are you talking to me like that? Do you realize there's a customer standing right here, listening? What is it you hope to accomplish by acting like this?"

Reply: You need to go down to Human Resource and tell them what has been happening. My ex-boss has done it to me too in front of clients. They were like why is she letting herself be talked too like that. Then one day last week I told him what I thought, and he didn't like it all. Said I was disrespecting him when it was him who was disrespecting me. AND I quit. AND do exactly what TALLMAN says.
