I have worked for 3 companies of varying sizes ranging from 80 employees to 8000 employees. My problem is I look too young foy my age and experience. In one of my first meeting with the client, I was asked to take notes. Because I dont look down upon any work, I started to do it. But after the introductions, the facilitator felt I was too senior for that and wanted me to do most of the talking and instead took notes herself. These kind of incidents are frequent when I meet new people. I used to be proud of my young looks till sometime back. But now I feel these looks are stoping my growth as popular opinion about me is that I am too young for higher responsibilites. I am very sure that this opinion is not based on the value I bring to the table but solely based on my young looks. Can anyone suggest how to handle this.
