Bad notice period

I am getting a hard time in my 4 week notice period. I am a successful account manager and I have been top three out of this 950 employee national company. Since handing in my notice I now am required to clean, stack shelves and assist in any menial tasks that the 'back of house' guys don't want to get involved in.3 weeks left of my notice period.......... any bright ideas???

It is not unusual for a "top" performer to be delegated to cleaning or other similar tasks once handing in a notice. Think of it this way: if this was your company, how far would you trust someone that was leaving and knew all the "top" customers. Not that you would take clients/customers with you, but that is generally what happens when someone productive leaves. Put in your time and DO NOT take it personally. |

It's really sad when the attitude toward someone who was so faithful to a company can change...making him look like he's worth less than the shoe polisher on Friday afternoon. Still, try and consider this...It's the OLD company who's losing..not you! You have done the right thing. Hang in there... and make as many "friends" in the basement as you can. No matter where you go, you always want the bridge behind you to remain intact. My best wishes for much success, and hope that perhaps someday you will have your own company...and remember to respect those people who give you much notice, instead of forgiving those who give you none! |

Years ago I worked for a bank - and anyone that was beyond a certain level of authority/security would be let go after they gave their notice - only because they didn't want you to have access to information any longer. My first thought is that possibly they don't want you to have access to certain information - but they don't want to kick you to the curb??? |

I used to work for a bank also, I gave my two weeks notice, and was told to leave (with pay) 3 days sooner. |

Dont take is personal. Just think about it this way.....Will you care in 3 weeks??? No but you will remember, when companys treat employees wrong they'll get it back in more ways than one. Just remember ERON....... |

I second that - it will come back to them. See, other employees will see how you are being treated. Then when time comes for them to give their notice - they don't give a long notice - as they will assume to be treated similarly to the way you are being treated. |

I gave my 2-week notice and the whole shop turned on me. If I was 1 minute late they would run and tell the boss. Who cares what the people you worked for think of you, they are just jealous that you are moving on and up. |
