    new General Manager in town

We hired a new General Manager externally. Before the GM was hired, I was performing in that position capacity. Yet, due to my mgr's mgmt style, I was not able to perform in that role with success 100% because my mgr won't approve lots of ideas. As a result, she recommended a hire from externally because it's easier for her to go along with other exec's decision than recommending me for that role. Anyway, the new GM is hired. I found that he was extremely polite to me in front of me. Yet, behind my back, he kept on telling my mgr different things. He told my mgr that I did not direct my team to support him 100%, etc. Each of his complain resulted in him getting more headcount and removing more responsibility from me or my team. I have been working with my mgr for over 3 years. Yet, I found her not trusting me as much after this GM comes in. She told me that I might want to consider to give part of my team to him. In reality, I know that I can do a better job than him If he needed my help, I am here to help. I really don't appreciate him going behind my back...and not inviting me to meetings and talk to my mgr about my support...

    What can I do here?
