I am exempt "salaried" employee, but feel I am treated under the rules for hourly. My company mandates min 40 hrs for salaried/Fulltime, but 35-40 for hourly/FUlltime. If I work less than 40 hours is my company allowed to reduce my pay? Are they allowed to mandate the min of 40 hours for exempt/salaried?

Reply: Have you thought about contacting the National Labor Relations Board? They might have the proper answer. However, if you are an "at will employee", the organization can set almost any rules they would like.

Reply: Workers like execs, mgmt, proessional type are exempt, and yes 40 hours week min and maybe more. On the other hand, as a fulltime exempt worker, you will get paid for a full 40 hrs, be it you worked all 40 or less. That's why it's called a salaried employee not hourly.
