    Legal advice re options?

I will soon be leaving my company due to my refusal to relocate to a new Province (Canada), which I could not do due to a shared custody arrangement. I have been offered a pretty good severance package (3.5 wks/year of service and an age adjustment). I also have been granted stock options over the years and will have to cash out within 3 months of my last date of employment for all options that have already vested. However, there are some options, as well as RSUs (Restricted Stock Units) which were granted within the last two years which will simply disappear. Is there a legal precedent which states what happens to these options? Are there any rights? I have heard that some companies automatically vest whatever was granted but is unvested... any advice would be appreciated.
