Wal-Mart And Sex Discrimination By The Numbers

" A federal judge in San Francisco yesterday granted class-action status to a sex-discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores, the nation's largest employer. The case, which now covers as many as 1.6 million current and former female Wal-Mart employees, can be decided en masse because it is based on a statistical analysis that shows Wal-Mart paid female workers less and gave them fewer promotions than men."

I don't see any women unloading the trucks day or night. Men work harder than the women in most cases. I was told to go change oil when I applied for a stock job. I was told that I couldn't do that. I should get paid the same amount to stand there and look at my finger nails too...

A guy employee will help you out no what your looking for or need help with. A woman employee will tell you where to look and say " if it's not there we don't have it " That's wall-mart for ya.

Do guys get maternity leave as well?

Yes--men have the same rights to FMLA as women have--12 weeks unpaid per year for personal or family illness. It is illegal to not hire or to fire a woman based on her intent to become pregnant. Good thing your mom didn't run into this problem, huh? If men could educate themselves and in turn earn enough money to support a family and be dependable enough to not run out on them, maybe women could get away with making a little less. Unfortunately, this is not the case today and women have to support themselves and their children (and oftentimes their spouse) and should reasonably expect to receive the same pay for the same work and be considered for the same promotions as their male co-workers. The statistics are stacked against Wal-Mart, and numbers don't lie, guys.....

Reading over the comments posted I would say its not just the employers who participate in this act, but male employee's as well. With that kind of attitude against women, good luck finding a decent place to work.
