I just got turned down for a job/promotion not because i waasn't qualified but because my current supervisor gave me a poor job performance review. I found this out because the hiring supervisor told me so. This made me furious. On the flipside there used to be this caucasian male who absolutely did nothing, no work what so ever, but yet was offered a promotion, hence a good performance review. need help....

Details are too vague...are you privy to the other person's performance review? If not, be careful, that kind of attiude will not help you or your morale.
The better route for you to take is to keep your focus on yourself and not worry about the your peers' performance. Go back to management and be gracious and professional while you ask about what you can do to improve for your next performance review because you want that promotion the next time it comes around. This will do two things: 1. it will show that you are professional and sincere in your intent to improve your performance, and 2. it will keep manangement honest. When they define areas which need improvement and you meet their expectations 110%, it will be harder for them to pass over you without a legitimate reason, or at least a raise. Hope that helps. |
