    out to get me

i know this sounds paranoid, but my boss is out to get me. He came on board a yr. ago - I have been with the company for over 15 yrs. He acted like he though i was a great employee, but now is acusing me of things that I did not do, like gossiping, insubordination, etc. when asked to site examples, he just replied that he heard things. When I asked if that wasn't just idle gossip that he was listening too, he had to no reply. He asked me to sign a "Last Chance Agreement" stating that I needed to change my actions or else--strangely enough he gave me a decent review and said I was creative, innovative, a financially sound person, willing to accept any and all tasks, etc. On top of this he told me to hire a young man straight from college that he thinks would be a great asset (I think he wants me to train this person to be my replacement, since we are currently in the middle of a hiring freeze, and I do not need any new employees under me)...He also insisted that I let him know where I am every hour. Prior to his coming on board, I have NEVER had a problem at this company. By the way, his immediate supervisor, who has been a problem for years in the company, totally supports him. I am operating in a panic mode at this point.. HELP!

Reply: #1 Document everything. #2 Go to Compusa and get a digital voice recorder for $70 and record all your voice conversations. Get one that you can archive the files to your home PC. #3 Get him into a position of discussion where you know he cannot site examples of these supposed offenses, and get the evidence against him documented. #4 Get a lawyers advice
