    Bottom of the food chain

    i've been with a company 2.5 years now, had a lot of experience in the field and took over duties smoothly- I've proven that i know what i'm doing, and that i have good ideas and am competent.....

    BUT there seems to be a big divide between the "old timers" of the company, and the newbees- and regardless if it's a good idea or bad idea, it's immediately not considered because.... you haven't been here long ehough, you aren't management, you aren't this, you arent that...

    and it's always nice to be reminded how "low" you are on the corporate ladder.. which happens quite often to me.

    so i say, why can they pile the work on and know that i'll do it, but i have to stick around for another 15 years in order to be heard??

    any suggestions on how to get into the "club" and win some respect?

    Reply: I really don't have any suggestions for you, however, it all boils down to office politics. If someone in upper management doesn't like you, you are screwed. I have always worked for mom and pop companies, but my husband works for a large company... it goes back to that old cleashay... it's not what you know, it's who you know!!! You sound like a great person, just hang in there and look for other options. Good Luck!!!

    Reply: It is an unfortunate trait of human nature that people in groups do the old "pecking order" thing. One thing you might consider is going to your boss and pointing out that you do good work (I assume this is the case), but get treated like scum by the old-timers. I wouldn't worry about being part of the "club," but would certainly insist upon being treated with respect.
