Unique problem - small office

I have a weird problem. I work for a very small organization, only two employees. The board of directors are technically my "bosses" and make all the big decisions, but they are not in the office with me. There has just been a new election, and the executives on the board have changed. The new president is really uneducated, yet very stubborn. Other board members manipulate him to get what they want, but for some reason I have absolutely no influence with him. It seems that whatever I say or ask is completely ignored or I am immediately shot down. There is no consideration for my needs (time, career, workload). It is very frustrating, since I think many of their decisions are not that smart. Before the change in executives, I was asked my opinion, listened to and treated with respect. I'm not sure what to do, becuase there is really no one else to talk to here. The others with any power all agree with the president. The pay is great, and I really need my job, so I don't want to just quit. I need to find a way to be here each day without giving myself a heart attack. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I am afraid you need to realize that this new president is not interested in your input and refuses to take suggestions from an underling such as yourself. You need to get used to the idea of "no input unless asked"...even if their decisions are wrong. Your past executives were more open to suggestions but the new people do not want them so your only choice is to quit and find a job where they value your input or stay and keep your input to yourself unless asked. |

thanks kenneth,
i guess you're right. it's just really hard working under someone that is so openly rude, yet not that smart!! i'm sure many people have a similar situation.
i guess it wouldn't be such a big deal if it was really easy to find another job that paid as well. this job is also relatively flexible, so i don't want to lose that. it's just a question of pros and cons! |

A non union job can get away with
most anything. There are no rights
for non union workers that I know of.
The only right is to quit.
Working on most jobs now is like
playing a game. People in attority
positions usually abuse attority
because away from the business they
dont have attority.
It is a Mind Game think something
just be carefull before saying
it . You can send body
siginals they will pick up on.
I have worked directly under
know it all supervisors it is
very stressfull too. They
never change.
Best Of Luck To You. |
