    Some advice, please...

I work with my mother in law and my wife in a sales type job. My mother in law is pretty much the person in charge, my wife is a sales person and I handle all of the technical aspects.

She is usually nice, but some times I swear I think she is trying to tick me off! She will ask a question I will answer it in the most direct way I know and she will say that I did not listen to the question; when the real problem is she did not listen to the answer. She asks why a task is not been completed when she has not even assigned the task (new tasks not remedial). Its not that specifically that I find so irritating, its the way she expresses it. She does it in a belittling tone sometimes boarding belligerent. She makes me feel stupid. And it is more irritating when she does it to my wife! Although I figure my wife has dealt with this all her life and I stay out of it. But it still irritates me. I love my mother in law, but my anger is building with every little nudge. Maybe I am crazy but it seems like she pushes just enough to keep me from blowing up and then she does somthing nice, it seems like a game!

Reply: No, you're not nuts, and yes, she does it on purpose. Get a new job, and get your wife out of there as well. And stop loving your mother in law!

Reply: My mother is the same way to my husband, and I finally stood up to her. It put an end to it right then and there. Call her on it, and if it doesn't resolve it, move on, it won't get any better. Good luck!
