When coping is no longer an option

I have been employed at my current job for 10 yrs. and have seen my fair share of toxic bosses at this job. The current managers take the cake by far! They lie, cheat, "fix" the numbers to take bonuses away from deserving people, bully, harrass, and when people speak in their defense they get pushed out the door one way or the other. They also when asked questions, talk in circles until you get frustrated and end up in the same spot as before. One can only grin and bear it for so long. These manipulators have got everyone's tail between their legs.I have two options: keep my mouth shut and move on to bigger things or throw them under the bus. Does anyone know of a better way of dealing with this? I am, of course, a fighter, especially when good people are being stepped all over for no reason. So my first reaction is to want to fight it. Am I wrong?

Reply: Since they manipulate, lie and 'fix' things, you can go ahead and fight it, but be prepared to move on elsewhere. I admire people with the pluck to fight such prevailing toxicity on our work force - that way, not all bad bosses have such clear wide-open playing fields. You should consult an employment-law lawyer - at least an initial appt which often doesn't require a fee, just to see what kind of legal clout you might attain in taking these managers on. Be sure to document everything and hand it on to the higher-ups in this company, if there are any and if your lawyer advises it. Good luck.

Reply: I am going through things now with my tyrant boss. She takes turns at everyone and talks to all of us like she owns us . She has mentioned to skinny employees about how us FAT ONES can't move like the others( bet me !) and has make disgusting sexual statements in front of my 16 yr old daughter . We don't talk like that and when my daughter gave her a bad look , she says " Sorry " and looks away . She has a dirty mouth . She had thrown hand brooms at an employee , has snatched a 10.00 bill from another waitress that someone personnally handed her for taking care of them , since the boss just left them while she went out back to smoke . Other waitresses clock out early and then finish their work so they don't get in trouble. One night she was mad because she had to come to town as the electricity went out .The head waitress called her on the phone . A hostess bumped me hard and I have bad knees and it hurt . I had to stand there for a minute till it quit. The H.W. told her my knees hurt and she said " SEND HER HOME ". When she got there she just said " GO HOME " I told her I didn't want to and explained what happened . She called my daughter a retard , then she said she was lying on her timecard ( NOT SO ) . Tonight the boss came back ( she was drinking ) got mad just because , told my daughter to go home , walked by me said " You go too ". The woman is a tyrant and the one waitress says she is getting worse. I told her I was going to corporate and she said I should where as before she told me just to relax and ignore her . HELP

Reply: You have been at the job for 10 years. That says a lot of good things about you - You know how to survive the workplace. If it were me- I would only be watching my own back - and no one elses - My thoughts are to keep out of politics - and keep doing your job - You have stable employment record, so possibly send your resume and see if yu can get more money. I would not be a boat rocker at the company - fight for yourself - it is a dog-eat-dog world.
