How to get away from a nut house of employment

    Hi,

I have been at my job for a little over 2 years. I started out as a receptionist and moved my way up in the company and promoted to my own office. Then I was transferred back to the front desk without so much as a reason for this action. No biggie actually, I can adjust to just about anything. My direct supervisor who did this lives with the boss. It is a family business which they deny. They are incapable of having any kind of functional relationship, business or otherwise. She is a clinical passive aggressive and has no plans of changing. My health is deteriorating due to the stress and I want to get as far away from this nightmare as possible. I have read some great tips on what to do the next time around. There have been some serious bridge burning here and I need to get out as quielty and calmly as possible and wondered if anyone had some good tips to survive the 2-3 weeks from my notice. She is vindictive and a complete idiot and I don't want to screw the company (for my benefit of good character only) by just not going back once I find other employment.

Reply: They may terminate you upon your resignation. This is frequently done. Maybe you won't have to worry about it. You are smart in not wanting to burn bridges.

Reply: Ask for a letter of reference from company before leaving. it doesn't have to be anything elaborate, just a letter confirming employment for 2 years and about the promotion. This will let future employer know you have actually been working and are just looking for a change. This is a start.
