    Make-up Mind You Will Adapt

Thank you "matildagsd" for your reply to my subject matter, Boss Crazy Or Is It Me"

"matildagsd" makes some excellent points. Who we are, allowing boss to push your buttons, how we react, and making up mind to adapt. I agree with everything. My first Job#1 - had no fear of being fired or unrealistic expectations. JOB#2 - had unrealistic expectations, followed by "your best isn't good enough, followed by written notice to reduce pay to $10.hr - and being fired. Ever since that, and especially in JOB#^ -when my boss rode me constantly for more work - unrealistic expections, Big time Anxiety developed - because of my former experience that they will fire you, when they start that crapola or other BS tactics, had damaged me forever (unknowingly). Buttons were pushed and "high anxiety" rose. I knew he was unreasonable., When I slowed down to a normal productive pace, he was back again, need more work. I would say that "Who I am" and the effect and knowledge of Job# 2- very much so affected me in "adapting" "button pushing" , etc. My past experience had taught me that, even if I ignore, do not allow my buttons to be pushed - I knew I could still be fired -and thus the trigger of Anxiety - Trust me, on several occassions, with professionalism and dipolmacy - I tamed my boss on specific occassions - but it did not stop him. And it took a lot of energy out of me and still he persisted in riding me - for nothing. He wanted increased productivity - and in the end he defeats his own purpose - I am out the door, nothing gets done until they get a re=placement in. ALL comments welcome.

Reply: You can't change other people, you can only change yourself. That's a quote from Steve Chandler's books on gaining a new identity and self-esteem. Which means that you can't expect to change or tame bosses, in other words. Its not unusual for bosses to push for as much productivity as they can, particularly if they have higher-ups to please or if its their own business, though. To determine what you've been through at your jobs concerning workplace bullying, I suggest you go online at bullyonline.org and read through it. You may also want to view the topics about overcoming the aftereffects of workplace bullying. It helped me tremendously in identifying my job conflicts and also provides links to other anti-bullying forums. The Ninevah group is especially good.
