What Blacklisting laws exist in Virginia, including against employers using "invalid sources" for employment references, when the person the employer calls was not given as a "reference", particularly as it applies to applying to federal jobs within the state of Virginia, when the "badmouthing" supervisor is not an "official" reference-giver, and when the would-be next employer gathers that information only via a phone call, not on "permission" forms?

I'm writing from Alberta, Canada. I accepted a position as a legal assistant (15 yrs experience); I subsequently decided not to take the job; employer was very upset. I am now unable to secure any type of office work, and suspect this employer is somehow involved. How can I investigate? Any ideas?

I'm am writing to say that I feel that I am being blacklisted. It has been 2 years since I have worked.
Everytime that my credit report is pulled and an employer has already offered me a job, it has been rescinded.
I don't know if bad comments are written in the actual report but I have not been able to find out what is being done.
So, my entire life has been ruined.

How do you know if your blacklisted? I had a bankruptcy is 2005, and I have been unable to find a job since. I post my resume on every site and apply for even the minimum. Nothing. I have been turned down for a job at Wal-Mart and I was an executive. I have nothing now, no house, no car, no nothing because I cannot find a job!!! Help, I have prayed so much my knees are black and blue

References-etc. company will spy your former employer for you and let you know every thing they are saying against you. then you can sue them or put a stop to it. i have never tried that before. it is very interesting for only 50 dollar.
this a quote from the company
"Our comprehensive job reference check - $49.95 provides a detailed assessment of your work history and job performance"
"You can E-mail our Customer Service Team or call 207-625-3870. Our Reps will be glad to answer any question you may have."
"If you suspect your former employer is making false statements about you, or deliberately sabotaging your ability to obtain employment, you should definitely let us investigate. Our written report can document this fact, and put a stop to it. References-etc is not in the practice of giving out legal advice. You should contact a lawyer if you have questions"
i hope that works
God bless you and good luck!
