    Never Feel Trapped

There is nothing worse in the world than having a bad boss that makes your life a living hell, except having a bad boss that makes your life hell with the feeling of being trapped. You know stuck, in a rut, feeling helpless, or should I say feeling powerless. When you are in that position it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Fear is the driving force in your life when you are feeling trapped. You are so afraid of loosing your job that you stick around even though your self esteem, health, and even sanity is at stake. Why do we do it? Out of the fear of not being able to live, provide, or even survive life. That is a huge amount credit you might be giving to a job you no longer enjoy and are devoting 8-10 hours of your life a day doing. I mean let us do the math…… 8 hours sleep, 1 hour getting ready and eating breakfast, 1 hour on the road to and from work, 1hour lunch at work, 8-10 hours of work a day, oh and if you have a family, you must prepare dinner, do homework, get them ready for bead etc at least 2 hours. That is 21 to 24 hours accounted for and you still have not done anything enjoyable in the day for yourself. But don’t think you are going to have fun on the weekend, because those days are for you to worry about how crappy your job is and how fast Monday is approaching. Now you might ask yourself is this job worth it, or you might phrase it “Why did I put this job on a pedestal next to an alter of Buddha!!!!” Maybe because the job has done such a job on you that you can not create or focus on goals in your life. Feeling trapped or helpless is at the bottom of the emotional scale for us and it is impossible for us to move forward in life in that state of mind. I was victim to this and got out, of course I had a little help by getting fired, but it got me out. What was so strange, I for the first time sat down and thought about what I really wanted to do in life. All my training in college that taught me I was going to get a job and if I was lucky it would be a big corporation that would take care of me went out the window for the first time in my life. (Remember this is my hope and everyone is different and working for a company is not a band thing, it was just for me.) I put me in charge of my life under nothing else and that is when I became positive and proactive in every aspect of my life. No longer did I let a job dictate the way I was going to feel everyday. I was!!!! When I did that everything turned around for me. For those who do not think that they can do it because of debt, children, and sick relative, get over it because I did. Just remember you are never trapped and don’t think for one minute that you need to work a job you hate just to pay the bills. Take some time in a quite place and think about what you want to do live that in your life and you will be positive and proactive working toward that goal. If you do that you will never fail.
