if your boss reprimands you to the point of crying is this harassmaent?

If a supervisor reprimands you on the telephone and literally refuses to let you speak or clarify the situation, & continues to verbally "assault" you on the phone without allowing you to put a single word in--is it acceptable to say into the phone, " we will continue this discussion when we Both can be professional & respectful. I will not tolerate this behavior from anyone?"& HANG UP THE PHONE? that is what I wanted to say/do. Instead, I took her abuse for 20 minutes & ended up crying in front of my manager. Yes, if your sister is getting such calls, it is verbal harassment/abuse, but about the "ur next"... I think that's a threat, which is highly against the law.

If a foreman from a different depatment in an organization is telling everyone that you are having an affair with someone and its not true is this a form of harrassment? This foreman has a history of doing this with other employees. This makes me very upset! What can I do?

Have you considered following up with your foreman in your department? You may be able to get some assistance in addressing the behavior of the foreman in the other department this way, and it may be preferrable to going directly to the foreman who is causing you trouble. Gary - Co-founder

I was recently sick and missed 2 days of work. I was recently informed that on one of these days, 2 of my coaches in my department had stood at the coaches desk in the middle of the room and bashed me for 10 minutes calling me a bitch and calling my mother names as well. I dont feel comfortable at work anymore and its because of this. I dont know what to do, because I didnt hear anything myself, I was told by a fellow coworker...any suggestions?

I was working at a retirement center here in Peoria AZ. The kitchen manager, who told me he would get rid off me. He would be playing music that was vulgar, filthy, and his mouth was just as bad. He put me down called me filthy names, then laugh and say what are you going to do? and even threaten me, he was going to shut my mouth. When I filed a complaint I was fired they made up some excuse. I was verbally harrassed and verball assulted, and they said he was trained that way. Since when does a head cook have the RIGHT to assult someone in this way???

If my supervisor started yelling at me in my face for no reason, cursed me really bad and then grabbed me by the arm. What can I do about this?

I recall working very hard for a company whereby the boss was highly verbally abusive and belittled and yelled at me with vile, cruel comments. He was a maniac that needed to see a psychiatrist because he hated North American women with lots of smarts and lots of education. He only hired foreigners who were dependent on him for their working papers, so he could abuse them in any way he wanted and they did nothing, they just took the abuse. I left because I am born in North America and I know right from wrong, I don't have to hide from anyone.

I was the only woman with 7 guys in training to drive a bus. While driving with 3 of us, the instructor started yelling at us foul and obscene language, then laughed and told us, that is what our customers might do to us. When I complained to Human Resouces about the foul language, I was fired. Is this legal??

I have been working with a guy named Jim. I've been constantly hassled by this guy and have been extremely frustrated by him. If I tell him to F**K off or F**K yourself am I harassing him back? I end up telling him to leave me alone and that he's real cool for always being such a dickhead and that if it helps him sleep at night all the more power to him. I also told him that no one likes him and that he's a loser. after he told me that I am stupid and a lazy punk@$$.

ok this may seem a little off, but my mother verbally harrased my boyfriend on the streets. With such threats as " You're gonna get locked up, You're hung buddy. You were caught, your done with." My boyfriend is mentally retarted so I don't think he really understands this, but I just wanted to know what I could do to get my mother in trouble. Its not a revengeful thing, but I can't have it. I don't have proff, but witnesses did hear her. Got any ideas on how I could prevent this from happening again.

If I am constantly being made fun of and treated un-fairly would I be able to consider that harassment? By un-fairly I mean for example: I have to clean the bathrooms when it is not my job because they like the other guy who is suppose to clean the bathrooms more than me.

My boss constantly screams and yells. Even at our potential employees. The look of horror on their faces says it all. Some have even walked out saying they would not work with such a person. She screams at her daughter on the phone. She is the VP.Corporate will not do anything. Is there any recourse that can be taken. She is a nut waiting to crack!

My husband and I are constantly being harrassed by a neighbor. We have been to the police several times but it turns into a 'he said, she said'. He contantly watches us 'cause we can't leave our home without him saying something and it has come to our attention that he bad mouths of to whoever will listen.. This is turning into almost daily occurences... Is here anything we can legally do?

    Date: 2/14/2008 12:06:00 AM

wow, no other words, if you can't deal with people then shut the fuck up, if you're being abused at your job or you don't like it quit. people shouldn't have the right to sue for any minor-freaking inconvenience thats heading their way. people that do this contribute to the horrible state of political correctness in this country and are in effect destroying our collective right to the freedom of speech. my advice is to shut up, stop being a whiny little b%*ch and deal with problems like an adult.

She called me a F-ing B**** and she told me i better watch who i was getting an attitude with. Is this a form of harrassment or were we both in the wrong for txting one another and using foul language? Please help!
