our boss uses language like, "Chinaman down the road" and "we're dealing with idiots here..." He is an ex-military sexist man who uses scare tactics and bullying to try to keep control of his business. Meanwhile, we are only a coffee shop....

this guy is constantly covering his ass. Once input is given on problem areas he never follows up. he likes to hear himself talk and repeats the same instructions 3-4 times. He is never happy with results & is critical of all work done. Never has a good thing to say. People are seeking transfers monthly from his dept. yet upper management will not address the problem.

I was told yesterday by my manager that I can no longer recieve personal phone calls at work during working hours ans that I cannot spek in spanish while working. I was hired by the company to do translations for them from english to spanish ans I was currently working as an Orientation Specialist an concusted new hire orinetation for new associates. There is no statement in the employee handbook that says an employee cannot use the telephones for personal call or cannot speak in spanish when this company is bilingual and has a national call center and latin franchise ownwers. I certainly feel that I was discriminated. I need to write a letter and turn it in to Human Resource can you help me please.

A major problem is not only the boss, but HR. They are not there to help employees. HR personnel are more concerned with keeping their jobs, then doing their jobs.

my company was founded on respect for the individual, strive for excellence and taking care of the customer. when fear and intimidation are used to motivate people you alienate workers rather than inspire them. we are after all human. not all are in the position to walk away so we tolerate this abuse. it is abuse when an employer breaks the rules of civilian life by trying to incorporate his past military life into my work space. i didn't sign up for boot camp i applied for a job. i deserve a fair wage for a fair days work. i believe i have been denied that atmosphere. my recourse has been to accept another position because you can not talk to a toxic person with only his own agenda considered. life is too short to let these toxic situations into your life. i can look myself on the mirror and be proud of who i am. can you?

Control and intimitation is what my ex boss used to control workers, but it did not work for me so I was fired after 18 years of loyal, dedicated service. I was 5 years from retirement and within 7 months of her being on the job I was fired. She feared my influence with others for co-workers respected me for my experience and my williness to help in any situation. The CEO sat passively by and allowed this person to terminate me after praising my dedication and qualifications 3 months earlier,in written form. As of today this boss who is now the VP has fired or made it impossible for many employees to stay. The Board sits passively by and allow this evilness to continue. What is going on here?

I work at a company where there should be magical happiness but instead all I feel is degraded. When the city had a transit strike I walked to work from one city to the Manhattan and never received a thank you for coming in and still continuing to work. I hate big businesses and there scare tactics that they will fire you at the drop of a dime. When I tried to speak with my manager, he told me that I should be happy I have a job. I've been with the company for 1 year and have seen 9 people quit. That's disgusting.

Omg! I can't STAND my boss! He is rude, doesn't let anyone think for themselves, and is constantly on us for little petty things that were his fault to begin with! He would tell someone to, for example, mop, leave, then when he returns he'll say 'What are you doing? People will be leaving soon and they will slip! Why can't you do what I tell you!'. He is actually very pathetic when it comes to managemant.

my boss is a sadist and a lecher. but things improved suddenly, it was then that we realized that he is having a sexual relation with one member of the staff. the tragedy of all this is that we r in a school and he is the Principal. his wife is working in the same place. yet he manages to do it right under her nose. takes the female home on one pretext or the other while the wife is in the school. The problem is that it is giving a bad name to the whole staff as everyone knows about his wandering eyes and loose character. what to do?

It sounds like the good people leave and the incompetent horrific managers stay on...Its the brown-nosers that endorse their incompetencies and they survive! and as for HR! Too true that they are too busy trying to keep their own jobs than look after yours!

Our boss was hired to fill a quota. He has an Doctorate in Education, and he can't even write an e-mail that is grammatically correct. And, in faculty meetings, he says, "I understand that there may be some excrutiating circumstances." We have corrected him, but he doesn't know the correct word to use. What an idiot. He is a principal, but doesn't know much about anything. I heard him say to another brother in his office, "Don't worry. I'll take care of it. There's a BLACK man runnin' Monroe!" Geez Louize! You gotta love the South.

My boss thinks she is little Miss Thing, like if she is God's gift to people. If you have seen the Devil Wears Prada my boss is the real live version. She likes to talk down to you and make you feel like an idiot. She only cares about materialistic things and is very rude.

I resign my jobs four months ago but my boss don't let me leave due to they cann't get staff to replace me so they approach me to stay back.Due to my kindness i stay back.Recently my student get sick and i need to give him medicine. But the medicine was not prescribe by doctor, so i didn't let him have the medicine. The ma was angry and withdrawl out immediately make my boss angry and say that was my fault. I was fired on that day also. But the termiate letter said i'm misconduct make me very sad and unfair.Along i love and care the kids. Now another manager ask me to ignore that letter and rewrite a letter ao them by saying i quit myself.Instead of they fired me due to i decide to tell truth words happening in the centre. I hope you can teach me how to write back a letter that i was force to resign instead of i resign myself.

If your boss is a control-freak lunatic, don't attempt to work around their problems. They're the boss; they should be solving problems, not causing them. Simple strategy. First, complain to your Boss' boss. If that doesn't work, find another job, then resign, but not to your boss; resign to their boss. Make the letter very short. However, in your resignation letter, clearly state that the sole reason for your resignation is that it is impossible to form a proper working relationship with your boss. A few people resigning like this, and higher management either gets the message that your boss is awful, or higher management are beyond help, so you wouldn't want to work there anyway. In my experience, there is nothing that can be gained by working for a company that is determined to keep bad bosses. By the way, I've been in my current job 5 years and I'm perfectly happy; however, my boss in my previous job was a maniac.

I have worked for the same company for 5 years, the first couple months where ok and I did have troubles with my bosss then, he had returned to another branch of the company, now my new boss for the last 3 years, is consistly making me and my other co-worker, feel like we are useless, he says stuff like we as a group must be stupid and don't do anything right. Last week he called me into his office and starts telling me that his customers think that I'm a useless piece of S**t and don't know anything, I don't think this is right. He treats me and my co-worker like we are not needed and has threatened me with job termination countless times. The main question I have is how do I do a letter of resignation stating this behaviour and it being the reason I'm quitting because I can't deal with my work and a boss that is a bully.

I have been in my job for some twenty odd years and is now considering quitting my job because of my boss. He is a bully and treats everyone in the team like we are all small children. He is controlling and must always have the last word. Although he states he doesn't like to be micro-managed himself. When we have our team talks everyday he doesn't allow anyone else to speak. Higher management knows what's going on but will do nothing as he walks the walk and obviously the team performs under his regime. I no longer want to be party to this and so must move on. Threats and undermining people to gain oneupmanship is not the way forward. It is time for me to move on to better things

Today my boss told the four female staff in the office that we are no longer allowed to speak to each at all while we are on the clock. Work related or not. If we feel as if we need to communicate with each other we have to use email. I work in a busy office as a customer service respresentive, the only time the four female staff talks to each other is work related problem solving.

I have worked for a major cultural institution for nearly 10 year. we have a change in management and this new woman is insecure, lies like a rug, bullys and intimidates employees. We lost so many talent young people because of the nasty way she talks to people. Today she threatened me with termination while I WAS trying to work with her on scheduling. I will make a decision over the weekend about this job as I fear being pushed way too far.

    Date: 11/3/2007 5:20:00 PM

My current situation is this.... I only find out on Saturday what my schedule is for the next week. It can consist of any where from 4-20 hours. I was brought on I was told I would get 20 hours at the very least. When anyone asks for a day off in advance, I don't find out till the day they need me in or the day before. I recently got another part time job, or in the last month have had to reschedule Dr.'s appointments, or other appointments to go into work. I get told I'll get more hours, then get scheduled for less. While I like some of the people I work with, I can't take the last minute, or being scheduled to work other's shifts without a heads up first. Even when I let them know in advance I have plans I get scheduled for those days. I really don't know how to best resign. I've seen so many recommendations, but I'm sorry I just want to put when and say thanks and bye..... they wouldn't give me that much consideration..... I fell like maybe they don't deserve the effort I put in and yet never get back.

Best advice: Keep notes on every incident with a verbally abusive boss. Document their very words. Find yourself a new job on the sly, do whatever you have to do to take care of yourself. Then, write a detailed resignation letter - to the President of the company, to everyone in-between, except your boss. Use your notes to outline each occurrence. make sure you let them know how it made you "feel" going in to their company every day. Pick your Exit Day, the day that you wake up and know that you don't have to go in. Then send that letter. Blast it in email, use their own Fed Ex account to deliver to the top brass if you have to, do whatever you have to do to get it through. Let THEM tell your boss why you didn't show up for work and why you won't be returning. They don't have to give you notice - extend the same courtesy. Take control of your life.

I haven't had my job for very long, but I will be quitting within the next few weeks. I've been exploited, I believe, because I'm the youngest person on their crew. They somehow couldn't get it through their heads that I'm a high school student, I'm not always available for a call-in and that my grades come above my work. Ethics mean nothing to my supervisor - she'll jump you over confidential matters in front of other employees. She told a flat-out lie to me yesterday in front of two other employess while jumping onto me, and I knew it was a lie. I lost a lot of respect for her right then, for lying to me, and expecting me to be so stupid that I'd believe it. So, my letter of resignation will be on the general manager's desk within the next few weeks. I love the people I work with but I absolutely refuse to be exploited.

Try working for attorneys. They know they what they can say and do to place blame on anyone but themselves, because, after all, they are "Attorneys"!

I quit and that is why i am on this page. ;LOL well i had a 4 boss's. I could not believe. i got censored even thou my work was at par. I did everything and then when they tried to use me as fodder to stop a take over. 2 days before the meeting i just quit. I knew that they were unprepared. So i just walked out the door. I did not look back, and i was a temporary person there for about 10 weeks. I could not believe how unorganized and rookie like the job was.

I have been on the job for approximately 10 weeks. Two weeks ago I was told by my boss, in front of the owner of the facility (nursing home) that my position was being eliminated but they did not want me to leave the company as they felt I was very professional and an asset to the company. I was then told that I would be working with the admissions clerk four hours per day and working with the medical records clerk four hours. When the other girls found out that I would be working with them and that they would be training me, they both rebeled! They did not want me to work with them!! My boss called me into her office two days ago and told me that due to the feelings of the other two girls, I probably needed to find another job!! She said that they did not like me because I was not a team player!! I was also told that one of the girls said that I told her that I had a degree and that I was smarter than her, that conversation NEVER took place!!. Help, do I need to resign or what?

I am leaving a company for a better opportunity and am so glad to leave my loud, eratic boss behind. She is completely incompetent and tried to bully me even though I was leaving! Some women out there should not be allowed to manage without taking a psychiatric test! I really she was jeoulous coz I am younger. more competent and attractive compared to the aggresive old jealous cow!Maybe she is pre manouposal!
