continuation of incompetent boss: I had a meeting in HR last week and was allowed to view a supposedly objective document on my complaint against my boss. It was supposed to include my viewpoint, my boss's viewpoint and that of others. What was written about my boss was milder than I had put it but still true but was alleged to have been said by him and others about me was slanderous to put it mildly, ie., I looked like the classic troublemaker. I asked for specifics and was given none, although they did change a few of the bullet points. NONE of the accolates in my personnel file that I know are in there were included in this document. I felt like the classic rape victim on trial.

However, according to HR, they were allowing me to view the document in the interests of "open and clear communication". The next day, my boss was going to view the document. Now remember, I and several others have complained about my boss in exactly the same way and have turned in plenty of documentation but only I was represented in this document. I was told that the higher-ups would view the document and then a decision would be made. I again asked for a transfer saying that if this was simply a personality conflict then I should be tried with a different supervisor--and that the only reason I was going through the complaint was at the PResident's direction.

Btw, my boss is continuing his same behavior. He also claimed in his allegations that I had missed 6 out of 9 weekly mtgs with him. Not true.

Furthermore, I still have not seen my 2004 performance evaluation either, which was due April 8. This comes after several requests to my boss and to HR to see it. I thought about it over the weekend and wondered if by simply viewing the document that I was implying consent. So I wrote to Sr. Vice President and the President again.

I said: that I was going to send a copy of my calendar to HR to prove that I had not missed the meetings with my boss.

that I was very surprised and upset by the counter allegations that were so vague that I could not address or refute them. I asked to know if this document was going to go in my personnel file and if it was that I requested it not be placed there UNLESS it was backed up with the same specific, substantitive and quantitative documentation, which supported my viewpoint against my supervisor. I also said that I was asking for a copy of my personnel file after this matter is resolved and that I considered these allegations HIGHLY suspect in the light of the current situation since they had never existed in my records before I also said that I was extremely concerned that my boss was going to write my performance evaluation especially since he knew that I had filed a complaint against him. Finally, I requested a face to face mediated discussion in HR with my boss in which we could be specific and accurate in our allegations, and have equal opportunity to refute allegations against each other. I said that at this point that I needed to do this for personal closure.

I also consulted a lawyer who said that once that document was put into writing in my file or I was fired that I had a powerful retaliation suit against the company because it is highly suspicious that all this negative stuff came out after I filed a complaint. Surely, they can't be that stupid unless they thought they could intimidate me?

Three days later no answer. I called the Sr. Vice President of HR, no answer so then I called the President, reminding him that he promised me no retaliatory action would be taken. (I also have it in email from him that I would not be fired for expressing my perspectives over six weeks ago). The President called me back and said that I would not be fired but that he couldn't be seen to be in the position of taking sides and to go with my trust instincts. I told him that I trusted him and that was the only reason I was going through with this and that was six weeks ago. He also apologized for the length of time that it had taken to do this investigation, saying that he had been out of state (true). The Sr. Vice President of HR also called me back. He said that I would not be fired and that I wasn't even going to get my wrist slapped but still no performance evaluation, and today when raises were supposed to be distributed, I received a live check (my normal pay)instead and no raise. I admit the live check freaked me out since the company stopped my direct deposit to do it. Tomorrow I have a meeting with HR, where they are going to make some recommendations. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I just want to keep my job long enough to find another.
