I would really like some advice on how to handle a boss who is a micro manager, hypercritical and from a completely different field, so is significantly ignorant of my professional area. The 'relationship' has gone from having heated exchanges to completely cold, with communication mostly by email, yet she is down the hall from me.

I am no expert but shutting off communication would be the worst thing to do (easier said than done). To let your boss and other people know that you are working in a different but important field maybe a presentation about the importance of your work involving other relevant people and your boss might help.

some of us seem to have more frequent negative experiences with more bullies than the average do. What is it about us that attracts such? I would like input from any one; would appreciate input from bullies as to why we non-bullies have such a powerful effect on you?
