Workplace bullying - Bullying boss
"John Bolton, the embattled nominee for ambassador to the United Nations who faces a crucial committee vote Thursday, isn't the only high-powered boss whose reputation for bullying subordinates and quashing dissent is raising eyebrows. The red-faced, desk-pounding tyrant, while hardly extinct from the corner offices of corporate America, is increasingly shunned when it comes to promotion, particularly for top-tier positions."

I have had bosses that bully, in addition to those that backstab you. What's amazing is how long some of these people have remained in management positions, ruining other's careers and lives.

Yep I agree, why do they get to stay while destroying everyone else's life? I hated working in a fear based threating atmosphere. My manager never talked to me once hired, I never ever saw her, just her assistant manager who constantly used the manager as a boogey man that will fire me for this and that. When I finally stood up to her that's when the real harrassment began. It was totally fine with my manager that her assistant could berate me in front of customers and never give me the chance to respond, my self esteem was attacked at every possible moment. I hated her and let her know it. I finally asked to be terminated or they could continue with my pushing back. I wasn't going to take the abuse anymore. I totally freaked the manager with that.
