Abuse or a Total Lack of Communication Skills?

My boss talks to me like I'm an idiot. Many of our conversations go like this:

Me: "XYZ-reason is why we have to ... and I will review it all"

Boss: "Yeah, but I don't need to review xyz"

Me: "I understand, I didn't say that you had to review xyz"

Boss: "<>, I don't have to review xyz"

She also constantly withholds information or only tells me bits and pieces of some rather important things. When ever the topic comes up in conversation, she will say "Don't you remember <> and xyz happened?" (with an exasperated tone and a fake smile). Of course, "knowing" about that would be impossible unless I suddenly gain the ability to read minds (not bloody likely).

Should I talk to her about this or let it go? She's either an *sshole or doesn't realize that she's talking to me like this. And, might I add, I am the only one in the department that she speaks to like this.

    Help!

    - M

Reply: wow, my boss is even worse. every second word from his mouth is a swear word, i personally think he has limited vocabulary. also his personal life might force him to "act it out", don't think anyone takes him seriously. how many bosses does it take to screw in a light bulb? only one, he holds up the bulb and expects the world to revolve around him. just ignore him i say!

Reply: I can understand your frustration but unless this going around in circles with this ninny causes important screwups in services or products, I'd be more likely to laugh it off. Sure, you could try talking to her about it but it doesn't sound as if she's going to get it anyway. Or you could document or journal the business dealings of each day, so as to use as a reference when you do try to open her eyes. She sounds more eccentric than she does bullying.

Reply: I have somewhat the same problem with my boss. He gives unclear directions and then also changes his mind. Then he will talk to me like I didn't get it. And in addition, he complains if people ask questions (and they do because we are all so afraid that if we don't do exactly as he wants he will be critical) and then if you don't ask questions and just proactively say or do what you think is right he will say" I wouldn't have done that." or "That was inappropriate whay did you say or do that." It is a complete no win situation. And...yet he gets away with it.

Reply: of course he gets away with it. He is the boss. Ask the necessary question if you are unclear, TAKE notes. Do not ask same question again, if he gave you the neccessary answer
