what is going on !!

I am in the situation where i leaving a good well paid job because of a dispute between two managers which is affecting all staff members in dept. They were both suspended for 2 weeks and i was asked to run dept, they both came back and things have just escalated to the point where i was off sick for 3weeks due to stress. Had a meeting with top boss today about me leaving, dont want to lose my skills and experience and have asked if i will work for them on a casual basis, they are aware of problems and reason i am leaving,so just what is going on here!!
