Got written up while at home / Manager wouldnt let me tend to my sick child

I too have a bad "boss". Shes actually one of 4 managers at a retail store.

She picks on everyone until they blow up. Then she smiles as if shes pleased with herself. Then she write them up or calls the District Manager to "Tell" on them.

She told me during my first week that I was not allowed to take a break. I worked 5 hours a day, and according to the handbook, anything over 4 hours got a break. She tried to tell me it was ILLEGAL in the state of Pennsylvania for me to take a break. Then she said, my job, doesnt get a break. I cried then talked to the other managers, only to be told, "dont listen to her, shes nuts". They wont confront her, just tell me not to listen which makes me uncomfortable because it just causes more problems.

The latest incident (there has been quite a few between then and now 9 months later), occured 3 weeks ago. The day before my knee surgery which was all taken care of, time off, etc, I had to call off because my daughter had a stomach bug. She gave me a horribly hard time and wouldnt let me hang up. While on the phone my daughter started crying and my supervisor wouldnt let me hang up to tend to her. I said I really have to go, and she stated she wanted me to call my surgeon and have them fax over a copy stating why I will be off for 2 weeks (surgery). It was just because she was angry. Right Now? She said, SURE. I told her It was already told to me by two other managers, just to bring in the note when I get back for my file. She said she wanted it right now. I said, listen my daughter is sick, I cant do this right now, she wouldnt let me go! So finally I said, I have to go, and hung up the phone. I just never had someone NOT let me go. Yesterday my first day back, she came in early to show me she had written me up due to lack of RESPECT for her and the other managers. I felt this was totally wrong, my poor kid was suffering and she was just being mean.

None of these supervisors get along, they all tell me different things...no one is on the same page. I have been told to do one thing, only to be yelled at and told NOT to do that but to do this. Its very hard when you goto one boss, only to have them talk about you behind your back. What should I do? Did she have any right to write me up when I wasnt even at work? Also, I am planning on leaving and wish I could explain that shes the reason without causing more trouble.

Reply: I wanted to add to my Original Post, that since the being told I cant take a break by this one boss, but told by the other three that I can take a break, I have been dropped to 3.5 hours a day (no break allowed). I thought that was fishy since just a few weeks ago, I was told I wouldnt have my hours lowered anymore..and here we go again. Every month I get less hours, but no one else can do my job, so it piles up then they get fustrated and give me a hard time when I am leaving for the day because its not done. :( I cant PROOVE harrassment, but Im sure connecting the dots.

Reply: Harrassement is a Myth, in this situation. DO not waste your time. Second, next time you have to be out under doctor orders, give them the doctor letter before you leave. Keep that Employee Handbook with you Re aobut the breaks. It is your defense. Just say it nicely. OR say I am confused, the handbook says this. If you are written up, you can write a rebuttal or refuse to sign it if it is not true.

Reply: you must document everything they say and do. yes you are enttitled to a break by law dont listen to any of the other managers because they only say what you want to hear they would not back you up so the day they get rid of you beleive me they will i have been there and done that as you walk out say to them see you in court it wipes the smile straight off there face who do supervisers think they are they are no better than you or i they only got to there position by brown noseing
