I work in Florida now. The labor law here allows a lot of workplace abuses. Anyone else working in Florida with stories, suggestions. The law wont protect you as well as other states, so what are self protection strategies in such a workplace environment. I cant marry the bosses' daughter.

Reply: Same here, Florida is that way... no doubt about it. I hear what you say. Yes, many workplace will emphasize and tell you in the orientation .. here we are.. AT WILL workplace... they can do/abuse whatever they want.... The Shuttle was flew out from Kennedy Space Center and returned smoothly but 50 miles or more away from the center, many of them are still living in 1900 world. From 50 states, 2 years ago NPR talked about FL was ranking # 47 in (low percentage)education. GOD... please help them...

Reply: I work in an abusive workplace in PA. As in Florida there are no protections against abusive workplaces. However, you might want to keep a journal of every abusive encounter. Even if it may seem trivial note it. It may help you if you decide to visit HR or seek the advice of an attorney. I decided to keep journal entries and I was astonished at the pattern of abuse I've been experiencing. I looked up company policies for anything that might be considered code of conduct violations, and I filed a grievence. It helped for awhile, but I know that I have to leave. Best of luck to you.

Reply: That's normal.. It's their way they set thing up for you. Believe it or not.. HR is just a piece of junk for us in the company. They were trained to do whatever the company need. They keep their seat for themselves.. you know better... Good luck..

Reply: Hey I know what you are talking about! I work for a company in Fl. For years I've have been lied too, and jerked around. When we have asked for answers we have been given a line about 10 miles long and 1 mile wide. It seems government can't or won't help! Yes your right the average guy is left holding the short end of the stick. The only thing I can say is " good luck to all of us ".
