    Unappreciated and under valued

I work for a European company that has an office in the US. I have been with this company for 3 years and stuck in the same dead end job. I took the position initially becaused in the interview I was told how the company believes in promoting within. I decided that I would take the position based on the fact that they promote within and new positions would be opening up in the next year or so. Well that was 3 years ago and we now have a new general manager from the European office. He is extremely controlling and has taken certain decision making away from management. He decides who is hired and promoted and less than a year ago he hired a young lady to work in our department doing the same job as myself. Yes, I trained her and trained her well. Needless to say, she has been promoted and sent to Europe for more training. I never recieved a thank you for keeping up with my work and training the new girl. I have a bachelors degree and she has a high school diploma. She is tall thin and blonde and one of the sales reps told me in confidence that the general manager feels sex sells. they have made a big deal about this young lady. I could run in our office while its burning down and pull bodies out and save lives and it would still get unnoticed. My own boss does nothing to promote my abilities. Everyone kiss the butt of the new general manager and unfortunately people are being left to rot. I am currently looking for a new job with a different company because I have become bitter. Please give your opinion about this situation. Am I wrong for feeling this way unappreciated and under valued

Reply: Sounds to me like you ARE unappreciated AND under-valued! I wish you luck in searching for a new job. And... stick with it! Don't become lethargic and stay in a bad situation... You can bet it won't get better. Your best bet... a new job. Good luck! Let us know how you do!
